Then there is the high speed train between LA and San Francisco which is now at 100 billion dollars with not a mile high speed track built. Sadly, this has poisoned the well for future such projects.I'd rather have one heck of a high-speed rail system, which we could easily do for the cost of the F-35.
In my area we voted years ago for a 54 billion dollar mass transit project. The current price to completion is now 185 Billion. Yet nobody in local or state government seems to care. Ask them about it and you get excuses, attacks on the messenger, and disparaging of the reputation of those who wonder how the price could have more than tripled.
