How many cups of coffee do you drink daily or weekly?

Before age 20 as a young adult, I preferred socializing at coffee shops versus alcohol bars. But after suffering a splenic artery aneurysm, for the rest of my life for the sake of staying alive, have carefully avoided any drinks with caffeine or many common cold medicines, much less real stimulants. So no coffee, tea, Coca Cola, Mountain Dew, energy drinks, or nasal decongestants, and much more. Even decaffeinated coffee was damaging.

Well except in this recent couple decades, have not had problems eating chocolate, that contains the weak caffeine family chemical, theobromine.

I make 5 cups a day and probably drink 2/3's of what I make. I detest cold coffee, coffee that's warmed, and putting coffee in a cold cup. I preheat the carafe before brewing, and the cup every single time - if it cools I dump it, reheat the cup and refill w hot from the carafe.

I've been cutting back. I used to brew 6 cups every morning, but lately, I've been leaving half of that in the pot. So technically I've started brewing 3 cups, but that only fills my medium large cup once, so I think of it as one cup or mug a day. And half way through that, I stick it in the microwave to warm it back up to "coffee temperature."

I switched to decaf 1/2 pot a day last year to help lower blood pressure. Staying on decaf to avoid any future addiction. I'll do a cup of caffeine if I am somewhere and that us the only choice.
