I just checked the Amazon site, and there are no lockers available in my area. There are a few pickup locations at various businesses, though, one of which is UPS. Next time I place an order I'll see if that is an option.
I actually just placed an Amazon order and noticed that the "Drop-Off Options" box read "0." Boo!

But I saw this online the other day, and it made me laugh:

I hope everyone is having a nice day!

For three days I’ve done only what needs to be done. COPD is really kicking my ass this time. Am treating for an infection and that’s slow going. We will see in a couple days.
I’ve been following your wound on your leg holly. I pray that it gets better soon.
can't be a an awful lot worse than struggling to breathe... I'm sorry you're suffering Pappy.... and having an infection to deal with as well... poor you... wish you to get better soon 🤗

Yesterday I had an annual nurse visit which my insurance provides. My blood pressure was very high. The nurse called my cardiologist. I got the call back while I was driving. Returning the call to them is complicated. Wait on hold. Press three for your branch. Leave a nessage. They called back this morning and I missed it again by seconds. The process starts all over again.

It shouldn't be this hard.

After breakfast, I'll dedicate today to sorting out some things I've been putting off for a bit. An invoice that needs to be submitted, updating my recipe binder (that will take several days), that kind of thing. So I'll be tethered to my computer most of the day and will check in now and then as the day goes on and I get bored with the chores I've been putting off.

I'm sorry that so many here are dealing with health issues, and hope all have full, speedy recoveries.

@hollydolly, I hope you will get some answers soon - it's very concerning that the pain has worsened.

As I mentioned in another SF thread, the flu, Covid and other nasties are circulating right now. Please be cautious, my friends. Consider masking up when in public places and breaking out the hand sanitizer again.

welcome to the world of the NHS...only you're paying out of pocket to get this treatment .... I hope you get someone PDQ..Very high blood pressure is not something that needs you worrying about very high blood pressure..

I attended a funeral on Tuesday. There were about 100 people there in a small chapel. Many were elderly. The service lasted almost an hour and a half. I was the only one wearing a mask (KN95).
same..last week when I went to the gp surgery, I was the only one wearing a mask. The irony was that there was a TV screen on in the waiting room , which gives out all the GP and hospital info on a repeat.. and over and over it mentioned this flu epidemic... yet no-one seemed to be concerned...except me...

@StarSong.. yes well reminded actually.. about the hand sanitiser. I lways kep a spraay bottle in the Ford.. but since having the new car I don't have anything in there, so I must remember to put some in ...

Geez Lawheez, I hope all who are feeling poorly get better soon🙏🙏

@hollydolly your narration of the contractors who don’t speak English, and then the Orientals, who had the nerve to ask if they could heat their lunch up in your microwave was entertaining. I know that is not funny, but it is sort of funny when you’re reading about it. I’m sure you were biting your tongue; I sure would’ve been.

I got the new battery in the Kawasaki four wheeler and wonder of wonders it started. Well not quite. It immediately rolled over so that tells me the other battery which was barely 2 years old had gone dead. This four wheeler has always been a real bear to start, if it sits more than a couple of days. I’m gonna get some dry gas, even though I’m not supposed to put dry gas in it I’m going to because I am on my very last nerve with this thing not wanting to start.

Wouldn’t you know, because it’s been sitting since the middle of October, all the tires are losing air because of the up-and-down humidity/dewpoint swings. Thank goodness I have that new. portable tire inflator.🤸🏾‍♀️🤸🏾‍♀️

My Honda can sit for six months and it may complain a little bit, but it’ll start. However, it still got a flat tire that won’t hold air. I’ve got to get it off the four wheeler and into town. My philosophy is I’ll get to it when I get to it. I need to get the Kawasaki running because it’s sitting behind the tractor.

Then I drug the 8 foot step ladder around the back of the house to change the lightbulb in the patio light. I have sprayed the top of the holder because that lightbulb‘s been in there about 10 years. I’ll leave it sit until tomorrow. I have to watch what I do for how long I do it because my vertigo is so bad. I should probably wear my helmet.———-

After 2 days of skiing, from Nevada, drove the 234 miles back home yesterday evening and am now recovering from all that strenuous activity. Seem to be surprisingly fit for my first 2 days this winter and am already skiing again at elite levels. Tuesday was an optimal sunny, near calm day, at upper 20F temps while Wednesday was cloudy, breezy, with cold cloud fog at 9000+ foot ridge lines. Yesterday was all mogul skiing on the above run. Plan to return next Monday for 3 days of skiing. Motel 6 was just $51 Tuesday night.

Tuesday, got whacked by a chairlift while getting on a lift into the back of my right leg calf that is still sore. Other wise, am hardly sore anywhere that is rather surprising for this 77 yo. First day really using my Pixel 10 Pro that went well.

(Right Mouse select "Open Image in New Tab", then +)

Some difficult snow to powder ski in, with a melt/thaw frozen surface cake, I horsed a few turns through.

I envy you! I used to love love love skiing. At some point, I lost the desire and doubt I am in good enough shape to really pull it off these days.

It's weird how we can just lose the urge to do something after loving it so much. I don't have any desire to ride a rollercoaster anymore either. I was never ever afraid of heights and now I am, we will say uncomfortable with heights if I am not in a secure location.

Within just a couple weeks of the holidays, influenza rates have risen dramatically here in the San Francisco Bay Area. Thus this person, will be masking up and carefully being aware of where I am placing my hands while out in public, avoiding touching my face, washing with alcohol frequently. Fortunately, given plenty of snow at my ski resorts now, with a change to skiing, I no longer will be going out to live music night clubs as much. Note I did receive a flu vaccine.

Ice fishing today! Foggy and damp, but above freezing, so it was quite nice. Lot's of tip-up flags going up and managed to keep 3 pike that were not the biggest, but sure made a nice meal tonight! In case you are wondering what a tip-up is, when a fish takes the bait, the flag trips up and the simple spool allows them to take line until you can tend to it.

I know. The nurse said be sure to take nitroglycerin if you have a heart attack. How reassuring.

The cardiologist came through with a prescription at 4:30 this afternoon. The pharmacy called at 4:55 to say it was ready. What luck! I picked it up and got home at sunset. I don't drive at night. Now I just need to eat something and take my first dose. I will sleep better tonight.

@CaliS

As a West Coast person, since there are plenty of mountain ski resorts just a few hours drive away from any of our coastal urban regions, that all a single person of modest resources and youth athletic experience, needs to do, is drive somewhere after doing a bit of homework. The below besides skiing, also applies to those singles wishing in summer to go mountain places they read about.

Just get in your car, put on the music, grab that hand into your bag of snacks, and Get On the Road. And that especially applies to Single seniors that have the time as most of us do, and still can do whatever minimally physically.

  • Doesn't need to involve any other people or friends because in this modern technology era world, with motor machines that can transport us for hundreds of miles on any day, and lodging or do it yourself camping gear all across the land, we individuals have been set free to make and enjoy our lives. Just do it!
  • Doesn't need to be to some fancy expensive resort but rather just be satisfied with some basics, one with just short novice slopes.
  • If one is flexible, choose to do so on a day with nice sunny weather.
  • Doesn't mean you will be changing your life, but rather would like to just dabble in a bit of winter snowy landscapes and nature, that can affect we Earth creature beings to our living core.
  • You don't need others or to do whatever inside some organized group. If you enjoy yourself in any activity, having fun and thinking about such, you can invest in any social aspects in the future.
And better with a bit of web searching, you'll find there are ski buses from urban areas that make all the logistics even easier including dealing with rental gear etc. Just a web search away from that fun. Heck some people just take those buses to resorts to sit around and watch, touch some real snow, smell some fresh mountain air, and maybe just drinking some coffee outside on benches at a base lodge.

It’s bad clear across the US. My understanding is the new flu variation that they did not actually build a vaccine for is much more dangerous than previous flus.

this was the US flu map as of December 27, 2025

Morning Peeps of SF...

It's 6.30am, I've been up since 5.30am... there's a delivery being made this morning of the furniture I ordered in December. It should have come in December and it didn't.. and now it's arriving at the most inappropriate time, because I have the workers going to be here...

The rain is absolutely torrential this morning..it's still dark of course, but they're warning us of a snow and wind storm for the next few days

According to the media headline this morning...

Storm Goretti has brought the 'worst snowfall' in a decade to Britain with flights at major airports grounded, roads blocked and rail lines closed.

I think we might have forgotten how to deal with heavy snow in the UK now..

Anyway hopefully it won't be as bad as they're predicting.. ....

Sorry for the negative post first thing in the morning...lol

Have the best day you can everybody..... 🤗
