Cortisone shots for older dogs

Our 13 year old schnoodle is having mobility issues. She has a sore paw and having problems going up stairs.

I’ve heard of a lot of positive comments from people with dog problems walking due to arthritis etc., having cortisone shots to help ease the pain.

I’m interested in anyone who knows anything about this. Please share your thoughts.

I’m making an appointment for her to see the vet so I can consider our options.

The problem with continuous use of steroids is that there are serious side effects. One is liver damage. And the possibility of Graves disease.

And you're right, your vet will give you the best direction to help your girl.

We have used cosequin supplement for our dogs as they got older. Seemed to help.

Thank you. We have her on a glucosamine plus supplement which she takes once a day.

I was just thinking, I may be an older dog too. I got a cortisone shot in my left knee on Wednesday.
It feels much better today.
