Doing your laundry. Do you have a schedule.

Yes. My opinion is rather useless since it was about 48 years ago. It dried lighter weight items. As I recall I partially dried jeans and heavy things and then hung them. Electricity was included in the rent so I never thought about cost. Living in a very dry climate, extra humidity wasn’t an issue.

I’ve been looking at small portable washers, in case that time comes.
 

When we moved here, I had DH build shelves that hold laundry baskets. I’m fussy about how I separate clothing so there’re 5 sections. My washer/dryer set are a smaller size. A full basketful does one load. I don’t mind doing laundry. I’m not keen on ironing. There’s a hanging rack and foldable rack.

The laundry room is in the basement. If the time comes that I can’t go down there easily, I’ll have to find a different solution. Maybe move.

Yes, I have a small dryer that just plugs into regular electricity and vents into a little bucket of water. You do need to open a window a little bit so that the room doesn’t get too steamy.

When I bought my condo, I had an apartment size washer installed in the hallway outside my bathroom where they were able to hook into my bathroom pipes. I put a little dryer in my guest bedroom. Apartment dryers take longer to dry items, but I absolutely love not needing to use the laundry room in this building.
 
I just love ironing, always have since I was a young girl. I'd always ask mother if she needed any ironing done and she'd bring
out her basketfull. I'd stand there for at least an hour and have them all folded ready to put away. Even when my boys were
still at school and I had plenty of shorts and shirts, along with my husband's shirts. It would take me the best part of a day. 24 shirts a week plus shorts and incidentals. I think I missed my calling to run a laundry.
 
I have to go outside and down steps to the laundry room, which happens to be beneath my apartment (my building also has 8 steps). Often I wait until I feel up to getting it done, which luckily is usually once a week. I only use the double loaders and every now and then, I'll do two double loads a week. I wash my light clothes and bath linens, my dark clothes and white clothes separately.

Sometimes due to bad weather or if I'm not feeling well, I'll get behind. Last time it snowed for a couple of days, I used my mini washer and spinner because I was out of house clothes. They get the job done, but because I have to "dig" the washer out of the storage closet and it is not completely automatic, it takes more time and energy. I have an apartment sized dryer in my kitchen.
 
I have no schedule, I can go for about a fortnight without running out of clean clothes to wear each day so I tend to do the laundry when the clothes basket is full but might postpone for a day or two if the weather is inclement.

In summer it only takes a couple of hours to dry on the line but in winter it might take until midday or even early arvo.

I usually set the machine off after my shower so I can get the clothes on the line about 8am

It was stumbling down the stairs to the basement with a load of laundry that prompted us to move to this one story house. Hubs had fallen down the stairs, too, and son had from his upstairs rooms. One day when I was doing laundry for all of us I counted thirty flights of stairs climbed.

I love the house we're in now.
 
I wash cloths several times a week. Run a load in the morning so Ron or I can get it transferred to the dryer before I head to work.

I separate the clothes on a system that makes no sense to Ron! 🤣 It’s basically lights and darks, but within those two categories are clothes that can go in the dryer vs clothes that I hang to dry after running them through the dryer for just a few minutes to warm them and get the wrinkles out.

Towels get washed twice a week, hot water and bleach (they’re white.) Sundays we change the sheets on the bed and they get washed the same way.

I have dog beds and their blankets and toys that get washed on average once a month.
 
As needed. I separate them into three categories and run a load when a basket gets full. After the wash cycle is completed, I transfer the laundry to the dryer for 10 minutes, which is long enough to shake out the wrinkles.

Then I hang everything to dry on a pole or drying rack to finish drying. I usually fold and put away the following day.

That's pretty much my approach, generally one load a week for cloths, sheets and towels every other week. Try to get everything done during the week while DW is at work. Weather plays in as we have a wind/solar powered dryer....

To add.... We dont normally separate lights darks whites ECT... only when we get back from camping and have multiple loads. We dont use bleach, not that good for the bacteria in the septic tank.
When we rebuild our forever home, moved the washer/ dryer out to the garage, 2 steps down, then 2 steps up on the deck to the pully cloths line. Flat walk into the house, or reverse course if they get a dryer tumble.

I wish I loved ironing. I am a good ironer BUT resist it when I can.

I have a routine. Friday when I get home from the gym I wash my casual and my gym clothes, that's one load. Sat. morning I strip the bed and wash all the bedding, about every two weeks I also wash bath towels on Sat. morning.

The only laundry not on a schedule is work/chore clothes. I wash those dirty clothes seperate for other laundry and whenever I get a loads worth.
 
No. Nor for putting it away once I wash it. It more often than not stays in laundry baskets ...other than towels, I do put away those. My AHDH brain has to 'see' it. Trying to figure out a more aesthetic way to do this.
