Waxing nostalgic about my Grandpa and the smell of his Old Spice after shave, I picked some up for myself. The funny thing is however, that it doesn't smell like I remembered. Could they have changed the formula over the years, or could the memory in my sense of smell be failing? What do you think?

The frarance of Old Spice aftershave is subjective, its marketing campaigns have undeniably been a significant part of its brand identity and cultural presence for decades. The product's scent has often been described as classic or nostalgic, typically featuring notes of spice, vanilla, and musk. However, the true impact of the brand in recent times is widely attributed to its critically acclaimed and highly successful advertising, particularly the "The Man Your Man Could Smell Like" campaign.

In my twenties, at an appointment at my doctor for some insurance requirement I had to have to obtain a mortgage, Doctor said: "Is there anything else, something bothering you?" I admitted that although it was trivial, the facial mole to the right of my chin, I would like removed.
Doctor didn't dismiss it as silly, but he did caution me that such removal, may induce cancerous cells some time in the future, then he suggested that I grow a beard.
For the next twenty-five years I did exactly that. But at the first signs of silver whiskers the beard came off, the mole being more preferable. Vain? Who me?
Since then, following a gift from my dear lady, I have worn a male perfume rather than aftershave, that perfume has been her choice of Christmas/birthday gift over the years. In her working life in the ambulance service she worked various shifts around the clock. Going to bed just after I had risen, she would bury her face in my pillow. The fragrance of my YSL lingered there, it was, as she put it, her sleep therapy.

I remember when I was a little boy, the barber would sometimes splash a little on my neck or he used the stuff that smelled like
Eucalyptus and menthol. I looked it up once and it was labeled “Clubman,” but was really Proraso Green, so I bought a bottle at Sally’s and yes, it was the same smell. I never bought it again after the first bottle. The people around me said it hurt their eyes or burned their nose. It wasn’t very long after, the sign went up in the office not wear any aftershave lotions, colognes or perfumes to work.

Old Spice smells like Gin, always has always will.... My grandads bathroom stunk of it

Every Christmas, we kids would buy my grandpa a giant bottle of Old Spice and he'd exclaim how it was EXACTLY what he was hoping to get and how much he appreciated it. He'd splash a dab on.

He'd go upstairs to the bathroom and replace last year's dusty bottle on the shelf with this year's bottle.

It wasn't until after he died that my grandmother admitted how much he hated the smell of it.

I miss my grandpa.

I was given a bottle of old spice aftershave just before I joined the Navy. I took the unopened bottle to boot camp where the USN promptly took it away from me. So, I've never worn that brand.

I remember using it when I was a teen, but OMG I got covered with unexpected squirming female attention using another brand, so I didn't buy more.
