Why just one watch?

I only need one. I wear it for practical reasons because I like to know the time. I wear it on my left wrist cause its safer there.
Im right handed. If I wore it on my right wrist it wouldnt survive. It barely survives on my left. I like a nice sturdy watch with a stretchy band that I can push up out of harms way when Im working on something. I prefer a mans watch. Womens look like kids watches on me. Also I cant see the time without a magnifying glass. Right now Im wearing the husbands Timex, but I have a bunch of vintage ones that I sometimes wear for out and about. One of my favorites is an older Elgin that was his grandfathers.

For me checking the time on my phone is really inconvenient. Swiping and all that. Also I think it can be rude. Im having a conversation and youre checking the time like you cant wait to escape. FYI. Its less obvious to sneak a peak at your watch if you need to escape. :D

I actually have two watches, they are health tracker smartwatches, but I only would wear one at a time. I was going to return the 2nd watch to Amazon, but it was inexpensive, and I started to like it so I kept it.

Many people don't even where one watch today, but those that do why just one? Why not a watch on each wrist?

My collection of watches are mostly vintage, meaning that they are clockwork, you wind them up. Choosing which one to wear is much the same as which tie, which cuff-links and so on, they are an accessory. To see the time I could just look at my phone, but I never remember to. All my phone ever gets used for is voice and text messages.
Did you know that back in pre-technology days, men wore their wrist watch on the left whilst women wore their's on the right. Wiki explained it in some gobble-de-gook, so I'm none the wiser. My watch is always worn on the right.

What I was told when I was a kid is people wore watches on whichever wrist wasn't their writing hand.. so watches wouldn't get in the way when they were writing.

I agree; it's so much easier to check the time by just glancing at my wrist than digging my phone out of my pocket and waking it up.

I loved this post until it got to the bit "most people aren't going to pay attention anyway."
They surely are. I used to wear a Superman watch my kids got for free at the Mc Donalds. I got so many comments at work that I eventually bought a normal one. A retro casio like I had when I was 8. I have to have a watch cause it's way handier than a phone. I wear it on my left arm. 2? No way. Irritating. I once got a golden armwrist but I lost the thing. So unhandy and irritating all that useless stuff, but one watch is fabulous.

I've have always worn a watch since I can remember and still do.
Enjoy repairing older watches and bringing them back to life.

Mostly wear a smart watch now (you can set it for either wrist).

Wish I had one while in the military so I could quickly set it for different time zones,
and keeping ones (like my family's zone when I was deployed).

I have only started wearing a watch the last 5 or 6 years. For decades never wore one.
My main is a Garmin fitness tracker that is bigger than I am use to wearing and only on my left wrist.
I have a nice dress watch that was given to me by my mom years ago but I have never worn it.

Beyond all that though …. And correct me if I’m wrong …. But the watch controls are on the right side of the watch as you’re facing it, making it awkward and inconvenient to use them if yo wear a watch in the right hand.
Exactly. Wearing a watch on the right wrist would be foolish. The controls for most watches are on the right hand side making it very inconvenient and next to impossible to use as such.
