there's still quite a few little girls here called Karen... and it was very popular in my daughters' years at school..the mid 80's to mid 90's....My best friend as a little girl starting in the mid 60s, had a name that is not generally used any longer... especially with the negative attachments it has today. That would be Karen.
I went to school with a girl named Gebra, and I had a friend named Tod, but I've not known of anyone these days using those names.
My cousin named her daughter Alyssa in 1994. It may still be used, but she's the only female I know with that name.
I had a girl in class when I studied, called Berta. She always said: Berta without an h.Gertrude
Beatrice
Bertha
Gaylord
Clarence
Harold
So true! It's funny how names come around again... names that were popular when my mother was a child..and lost favour for decades are now popular again..
Na,es after flowers for example...
Ivy
Rosie,
Daisy
Lily
Violet
Iris
Back in the '50s, we seemed to have a surfeit of Michaels and Williams. Every third girl was either a Linda or Sue. All very nice names but they seem to be too normal for today's young parents.![]()
