Reflections of My Life

It has been snowing since I got up earlier. Constant. Probably not going anywhere unless my delivery gets here today. Both by Fed-X. They usually come regardless of the weather. I will see.

The thread about watches got me thinking about my old watches. I once sold 35 of them in my eBay store. I still have about a dozen left. I saved my favorite ones. I worked as a CNA (certified Nursing Assistant) so a watch was an essential part of that job. When I was married to my first husband he bought me a watch for Christmas or my birthday usually. Being retired now I don't ever wear one.

I tried to wear a bracelet and I couldn't wear it for very long. I just don't like anything on my wrist anymore. My hands are in water a lot or using the mouse for the computer and anything on my fingers or wrist is just in the way. I have a lot of jewelry and will occasionally wear a necklace. Earrings are all pierced and one of my holes has closed up. I am planning on getting it re-pierced in the near future because I do miss my earrings.
We’ve had about an inch of snow with more predicted this morning. I may to call someone to move my car as I cannot be out in this weather with my lung problems. Hope your deliveries are on time.

They just sent me a message that they will be here today on time.

The snow is one of the reasons I chose not to have a car when I moved here. People here have to move their cars so the parking lot can be plowed. Which means cleaning it off too. I could not do that at all now. Best to stay inside.

I had this once...Delicious

I am anxiously awaiting the delivery of the mattress for my new bed. You would think I never slept in a bed before. But I am excited about it so it just shows that even at my age now I can feel excitement. I suppose that is a good thing.

I purchased a mattress and pillow protectors for it and they are already here. The new pillows came yesterday though I have not removed them from their packaging yet. Might do that today. They are compressed so need time to decompress. I also ordered a lavender sheet set which should be here tomorrow. I didn't have any that were twin XL so had to get one set. I will get another set in the future. I like to have two sets.

The snow plow was just here so I peeked on the window and yes, we had quite a bit of snow. Not going outside today. I have plenty to do in here anyway. Thinking about doing laundry if the laundry room is not too busy. With only 4 washers and 5 dryers (with one broken for good) it is best to do it when nobody else is down there.

I am not getting rid of Rabbit's cage. Finding space for it in here because he loved it so much. It was his safety spot when something scared him. He would hop to it as fast as possible and jump in making lots of noise. I just can't part with it or store it downstairs. At least not yet.

:) I find you excited (passionate) about many things, Kat. Your love of animals, cleaning, order, wellbeing are just a few.

Yesterday, I made it a point of not spending my day scrolling the computer. Thought I should do things I had put off. Like my piles of paper! Where do they come from? When I go through them most of the go in the trash. I do most things through email so most of the mail I get is junk mail. I pile it up instead of looking at it and throwing it away. I will make a bigger effort to do that from now on.

I placed a grocery order just before I came here. Want to get it early so I can attempt to do some laundry. My card has enough on it for two loads I think. Then Feb. 4th the new machines are being installed. The old company said they will not give us the money back that is left on our cards. So need to use it up and not add more. The rest of the laundry will just have to wait. I think I can add money between now and then with five and ten dollar bills.

Yesterday I dug through my storage locker for my favorite comforter and one of my afghans. Of course, the comforter was in the bottom container in the very far corner! I could see it because that container is transparent. If I had to buy any more containers (which I don't) I would buy only the transparent kind because it is so helpful when looking for something. I wanted to use them on my new bed. So I need to wash them first and the new sheets also (which are scheduled to arrive today).

The good news is the mattress is out for delivery right now! Coming on UPS! I figure Jeff will have to help me get it in the elevator and meet me at my floor and we can slide it into my apartment (I am directly across the hall from the elevator). I watched a woman unboxing her queen size mattress from Amazon on YT. She did good but had to get help from her neighbor to lift it onto the bed frame. I am planning on putting it directly on the bed frame immediately. Let it inflate there. I think.............not sure about that though mine has handles to make moving it easier.

Before settling it down I will need to get the mattress protector on it as well. It covers the whole mattress, top, bottom and sides. Protecting the mattress from the elements........but especially the dreaded bedbugs. Then I have to let it set for one night I think before using it. So it inflates fully. I can wait.........

I have a mattress protector on my twin mattress.

Try to have Jeff help you stand the mattress on end and sort of shimmy the mattress protector down over the mattress.

Good luck!

I was at the lobby door getting my Walmart delivery. The driver had to go back to her car for one more bag. She had put everything on my walker and I was arranging it and there was a whole bag full of frozen french fries and chicken nuggets..........now my son would have liked it but it was not in my order. I gave it to her and told her it was not mine. She only drives so did not make the order up but some other driver probably delivered a order that was missing those items. I hope it gets to the right customer. I hate it when something is missing in my order but this is a whole bag full not just one little item.

'They' do say, for efficiency's sake, to sort your mail (keep it or toss it) the first time you handle it.
:) Can't wait to hear all about the upcoming story of your new bed.

They won't get their fries and chicken. She'll maybe take it back to the store. You should've just kept it. They don't make a habit of going back to deliver it because they don't know who got it. They just deliver the stuff. The people who it belonged to can go into their app and ask for a refund. That's generally what happens. Jeff could've had a special treat. LOL

Why is the mattress inflatable?

The mattresses that are shipped in a box are compressed so they can be shipped in a box. My pillows were too. Once you take them out of the plastic they are wrapped in.........watch out!

I got lucky today! The UPS guy delivered my mattress in a box right inside my apartment. He brought it to the door and when I opened it he offered to bring it inside. Then Jeff came down and helped me get it out and unwrapped. Now it is on my bed in the mattress protector. Have to wait 48 hours to sleep on it. Otherwise you can get wrinkles in the mattress. I will wait.

Now I am going to start my supper. Cheeseburgers tonight.
