The Good News Network

I use that site to just help me know there are healthy news items going on.
I posted a couple articles from that site here.
I had decided I will not purposely view or add to the madness on certain things and I just scroll past them now.
Life is way too short to live it riled up everyday.

I am SOOOOO SICK TO DEATH of all the bad news in the world. Yeah It’s good to stay informed, but it seems these days bad news is all that gets talked about.

I discovered “The Good News Network” and thought I would share for those who are as equally disgusted with so much focus on the bad stuff.

The Good News Network: Positive Stories 24/7
Thanks! I never heard of this news source.

Thank you for posting this Imogene. I too am very tired of all the bad news. I have a friend who bathes herself in it and at some point I have to cut her off and/or change courses during which time I can make her laugh hysterically. She always appreciates it. We've had good news threads here before. Ironically, they seem to get the least attention! So much for people wanting the hear/read good news.

I get my nightly taste of good news from World News Tonight (ABC). At the end of each and every broadcast, they do an America Strong (on Fridays it's Person(s) of the week) segment. The stories are about people who do remarkable, charitable, amazing things to spread love and help those in their neighborhoods, communities and even throughout the country. Often, these remarkable people are children; sometimes even centenarians. I also find good news via other sources.

18 Outdoor Dogs Rescued from Winter Storm–and One Gives Birth Safe and Warm Inside Shelter

18 outdoor dogs rescued from winter storm and one gives birth safe and in the warmth of the shelter.
In southeast Missouri, the nonprofit Animal Rescue Corps helped save a pregnant female dog along with 17 others from the snow and freezing temperatures that battered so much of the United States.
Safe and warm at their rescue center outside Nashville, the ARC staff helped her welcome a litter of 9 adorable puppies into the world.
According to ARC, following a call in Doniphan, Missouri, their responders found several adult dogs chained up and multiple litters of puppies roaming freely on the property.

This is not a criminal case, says ARC Executive Director and finalist for the CNN 2025 Hero of the Year award, Tim Woodward, as it was the property owners who took the initiative to ask for help when the winter storm was on the horizon.
“The people living on the property recognized that the number of dogs had grown beyond what they could manage and that they could no longer properly care for the animals,” said Woodward.
“These individuals also agreed to have their personal dogs spayed or neutered immediately at ARC’s expense.”
ARC team members traveled to the area on Thursday night, met with local rescuers on Friday morning and transported seven adult dogs and 11 puppies to its rescue shelter near Nashville, Tennessee later that day, KFVS 12 reported.

Described as a “situation of uncontrolled reproduction that got out of hand,” the property owners had only gotten hold of the first few dogs after volunteering to help a family member.
ARC doesn’t specialize in adoptions, but rather large scale rescues of multiple animals. Once mentally and medically recovered from the conditions they’re rescued from, and legal custody has been secured, ARC will work through their network of pre-approved 501(c)3 non-profit shelters and rescues where these animals will continue their journey to a loving home.

I'm glad the owners had the wherewithal to contact the rescue organization. It sounds like they were breeders, otherwise why would they not have fixed their animals?

Beavers Save Projects. In the Czech Republic, a colony of beavers saved the government roughly £1 million by creating a wetland area, completing a project that had been stuck in bureaucratic limbo.

"Britain's Loneliest Dog" Adopted A border collie named Bess found a loving home after spending 10 years in a rescue centre, receiving hundreds of applications after a public appeal.

Hedgehog Highways A neighbourhood in Keyworth, Nottinghamshire, connected 42 gardens with "hedgehog highways" to help the endangered species roam safely.

I am also glad the owners did the right thing by asking for help for the dogs.

Breeders!?!? of what??? Look at those dogs. There is nothing AKC or UKC about any of their appearances, IMHO.

Whatever the case, the pups and parents are safe and the rescue organization is making sure the adult dogs get fixed before going back home.💐💐

You're probably right. I just don't understand why people would not fix their animals if they aren't breeding. The main thing is, these dogs are getting much needed help.

I personally know a couple where the wife kept pushing to get their lab neutered and the husband flat out refused for a couple of reasons that didn’t make sense to a jackass.

Setting the money issue aside, it is likely most of this non-neutering & spaying business is driven by some male ego….. Sorry men, but you aren’t all born with common sense in this department.

Well I agree with spay or neuter of course, but there is a science behind delaying it until a little older. Waiting unitl the male or female is older between 1-2 is better for their health. Doing it too early affects the hormones and can affect health. But during this time the owner needs to be aware of other females in heat (if male), or other males if female.

Uncontrolled breeding is a massive problem. Too many dogs and cats suffering because of idiotic owners, mostly trying to make a buck. Even non registered breeds can get you 50-100 bucks or more on Kijiji or craigslist, so I assume all they see is money and not suffering.

I went and looked at the site. It was so cluttered with adds that you barely read an article that sparks you interest. Not sure I want to spend much time there. I bookmarked it and will see if it grows on me.

I don't get it either. How could anyone look at these poor strays in a shelter or one's being dumped and think it's okay to let them breed? That's one of my many pet peeves. I don't know about where you live, but we have low cost spay and neuter clinics where you can get your pet fixed for around $25. My thing is....if you can't afford the $25, how can someone afford the the upkeep of a pet let alone their offspring?
