Reflections of My Life

I just found that my good night was not posted last night. I trashed it and put up my good morning instead. I hate when this forum is not working, which is rarely. I would rather fakebook go down than this place.

Anyway, today is my errand day and quite cold out. Not going to think about that. Sonny is coming to pick me up around one. His aide comes on Tuesday and Friday so have to wait till she leaves. He badly needs her services! :)

I bought a coffee mug warmer and I love it! I had one before but it didn't work with all my mugs. Only the ones that had flat bottoms. I got this one from Walmart and it was less than $20. It has 3 different temperature settings and it works with all mugs. I love hot coffee and I was drinking coffee cold because I am not a fast drinker. This keeps it hot right up to the last sip.

I got home about an hour ago. Took me awhile to put my groceries away. I think I might have enough for the whole month. Well, except for a few things but for the most part I will not be hungry. I had made a pizza burger bowl yesterday for today. I knew I would not want to prepare much when I got home from shopping. So I ate that and I am getting ready to shut my computer off and watch videos in the recliner for awhile.

My knees are killing me. They always are after I do something but especially shopping. I do not use a electric cart in the store because they make my shopping difficult. Can't reach anything and I have to keep getting out of it. My walker is best for me. Sonny uses a electric cart and I put my groceries in that.I always shop with a list and if it is not on that list I don't usually buy it. Once in awhile.

I had to get some icy hot (Walmart's brand) because my doctor recommended me applying it to my knees when I use the vibration plate. So now I have it and will be able to try it. Probably not tomorrow as I will be recovering from today.
 
I did not get any resting in today. It started with paying my son's rent. The manager said he is behind $150. !!!!!!!!!!!!!! She printed out the spread sheet of his payments and one of the $100. money orders for his deposit is not on it. I had the receipts from all the money orders for rent and the deposits. She said it doesn't really prove it was paid by me because the receipt does not have their name printed on it. The part that had that is what I gave them and they lost it. So I have to pay $150. to them because they lost it????

She studied it and she did try to figure it out. Then said that our previous manager did not put the deposits in the right spot on the computer program. Is that my fault? Should the tenants have to pay for her errors? It is the cost of doing business. If you undercharge someone for something in a store then you have to swallow the loss. But......NO, she said she might be able to get the late fees deleted but I would still have to pay the $100.

I came home and went to the post office site with the missing money order receipt and found out that is was not cashed. So she must have lost it. I will have to go to the post office in person and file a missing money order report. It is $21. to do that. Then wait for them to do their search on it and then issue me a refund. They said it could take up to 60 days. So I guess I will pay the $100. and when I get the refund I can keep it.

I need to either fix my printer or replace it. Then when I do our rent money orders I will copy it before I pay it. That will have their name on it. Bryten Real Estate Partners is a very unorganized business. They do not know what they are doing. I think adding subsidized housing to their organization was not a smart move or thought out at all.
 
I have been here but maybe not posting as much. Been so busy. Yesterday I was going all day and exhausted when I finally went to bed. The bed is great! I can put my head and feet up at the same time. I am hoping to take some time in the day to get in there and put my feet up for at least a half hour. I am not a napper so not so easy to do. But I can read. I do not want to spend all time watching videos when I am in the bed.

Talking about the height of your new bed, I measured how high the top of the mattress was down to the floor and it was 27 inches. We have trouble getting into because it’s so high.
Googled proper heights and for us seniors it should be between 20-23 inches from the floor. My SIL said he will take off 4-5 inches from the adjustable legs. I know this will help for the 3 am potty runs..🚽
Be careful it isn't too low, either.
Or it's difficult to stand back up.

Lower is Easier to put feet flat on floor, but also then, need to straighten your legs.
 
I am feeling much more positive and happy again. I think it took me a bit to get used to not having my bunny boy. Living alone is not so bad but when you have a pet to take care of you are not really alone. Now that I am used to it, I am starting to remember that I planned on my own self-care when he wasn't with me anymore. Getting my new bed was part of that plan.

Going to the doctor was another part. I have gone to her before but never scheduled any x-rays (for my knees) or future appointments with the Lymphedema clinic. I always had to worry about how long I would be gone. There was no one to care for Rabbit if I couldn't get home in a decent amount of time. I never spent one day away from home as long as I had him. He would not have understood that.

I am not an antisocial person, though I am an introvert. Part of the problem living here is that the other people immediately start talking about others who live here. I do not care to listen to this. I try to get along with everyone but have to bite my tongue when they are talking at me (not to me........I refuse to add to the gossip). I have always defended the people other people don't like. I don't why but it is just part of me. Even in school I was friends with the popular and the ones nobody liked. The ones they said had "cooties" because I knew they didn't.

So I stay inside my home and research what I need to do to improve myself. Whether it is physical or psychological. As of this morning, I will not be referring to the place I live as my "apartment" but instead I am calling it my "home". I think that was a bad habit. Home sounds more like what I am trying to establish. Apartment sounds like it is not permanent or like it is not as good as living in a house. Mine is because I have been making it cozy, homey and my safe place.
I loved reading this post, a couple of days ago. Thanks for all of it. 🥰

As usual I got sidetracked by a thread on here. The one asking if you ever used a black oval roaster. Indeed I did! I loved it and cooked on top of my big wood heating stove with it. So I had to look for a picture of it. I could just leave it on the stove all day simmering and it would make our house smell wonderful. Trouble was we were hungry all day! It was too big for this kitchen so I left it for my husband. Who knows what has happened to it. His son probably trashed everything I left for him except the cast iron. The kettles have water in them.

At the post office, for them to research it, for you, even though their website indicates that it was Not cashed? So you have to pay that charge Now, as well as the$100.??? :oops:

I used to use postal money orders for a lot of things.!
It did mean that I had to hold on to those receipts , or to copy them, At a copy store. 🙄

Now I do have an old bulky copier, and i copy every single thing that I give to the landlord or to anyone..... it's difficult to keep track of all the paper copies, but i try.
I also have to buy the paper and the ink cartridges.

If you get a copier, you might want a feature that mine has: i can easily plug it into a laptop, and make paper receipts or documents, to give to others, including the landlord.
 
I'm fortunate cuz I pay my rent using Zillow.com. It is drafted straight from my bank acct into his so he can't lose it. I also get emailed a receipt I can print off if I feel the need.
They charge $8.00 for online payments. Otherwise I would have done that. I pay all my bills online and not one of them charge me to pay them.

I have always had one. Mine is a printer, copier & scanner. A all in one model. But I am having difficulties with it right now. It is hooked up to my computer but the refilling the ink is the problem. I refill it and then it doesn't do what it is supposed to do. Prints a blank piece of paper. Shows on my computer that printing is completed. I go to their help on the site and I do it exactly as they say but it does not match what happens on my printer's screen (on the front of the printer). I will probably trash it and buy a new one.

Only thing is on Amazon there are not any printers with good reviews. All in the 3 - 4 range. I want at least 4.5. And it has to work with Ubuntu.
