Well, Rocco had his annual jabs but apparently was very nervous. Just glad it's all done for him. Of course I gave him a treat and he snuggled up to me for the afternoon.

Pleased your pt session went well @Kaila. Hope you managed a nice nap after having your broth as well and are generally feeling good.

It's now almost 8pm so time for me to settle down to some tele viewing.

That must have been so comforting for Rocco to be with you, after his ordeal.

Good Afternoon, Kaila and Friends

I am a bit late today as I decided to give Lucius a shower. I've never actually done that as we've always had him groomed, but the groomer hasn't been able to pick him up in this weather and my poor dog was really smelly. I washed him in my shower because it's basically a room so he didn't have to get in the tub upstairs. He was a very good boy! I give the groomer credit because she's gotten him used to being washed in this way.

I used towels and the blow dryer as much as I could and he's upstairs laying by the heating vent now. He smells better and he's a couple shades lighter.

@CallMeKate, yep, same here. It started snowing on Lucius and I during the afternoon walk and I've received a severe weather alert/dangerous cold for tomorrow so, you're right about Lucius' walks being truncated! It will have to be trips to the yard tomorrow and until things warm up a bit.

@Kaila, glad you got to physical therapy and it went well! Broth sounds soothing in this weather.

---Sadly, my poor husband is worse today. He's off today and I finally managed to convince him to call out for tomorrow so he can rest.

@Pam, Rocco is lucky to have you.

After washing Lucius, I took my shower early so I am in my jams now and I must say, it is delicious to be in jams in the afternoon.

I saw a graphic that made me smile and I wanted to share it. I had toe socks exactly like this in the 70s and how I loved those things! Actually found them online again a few years ago and bought some... still like them.

Hope your husband feels better soon @Medusa and thank you and @Kaila for your nice comments regarding Rocco. I am very fortunate to be able to have him 5 days a week but none of the vet/grooming bills etc. I think you did very well, Medusa, to give Lucius a shower. If Rocco ever did get dirty then I'd just hand him over to mum.

Got the bus into town t his morning, put on waterproof jacket as the forecast was for showers. They got that wrong! It's been blue skies and sunshine.

Other than that, I've done absolutely nothing other than have a nap this afternoon.

BTW, it seems shocking to me, as well, the extreme of our winter weather. Even though we live in the Northeast corner of the USA, where we endured many decades of similar.

But now,
I barely remember that in this past December, I wondered if we'd get any snow and wintry storms, at all.
And now,
Winter has a firm grip on the region, for sure!
I'm wondering if it will loosen it's grip, in March , or if well have a late Spring, which is what it seems, from present vantage point.

Good Afternoon, Kaila and Friends

So, the real-feel was -1F/-18C when Lucius and I took the first walk this morning. My gear held up, surprisingly well and Lucius didn't seem bothered. Right now though, there is currently a high wind and extreme cold warming. The real feel right now is apparently, -7F/-21C. I'm thinking the afternoon walk will be a trip to the yard. It's confusing for Lucius when we do this and I may end up staying out just as long as if we'd walked, until he gets the idea, but at least we will be close to the house so as to rush back in. :/

Thank you @Kaila and @Pam for encouraging words about my successful Lucius showering exercise. I did get a bit of soap in his eyes and they were a little red for a while. I'm still feeling bad about that. Poor puppy.

I've ordered some no tears, odor control doggie shampoo for him. I found this to be a bonding experience with my dog so, I'm going to keep washing him and we'll continue to send him to the groomer for nails, ears and teeth.

Also, thank you, both for kind words about my husband. Sadly, he is still stick today, sleeping now, and I would very much like for him to call-in for tomorrow, but I doubt he will. On the upside, he is off Monday and Tuesday.

I have noticed a scratchy throat today, some fatigue and a hot sensation when breathing in, at times. Damn. I was hoping I'd miss this one. I've resolved not to stress about it, though and rather to use it as a excuse, should I truly fall ill, to stay in bed with cough drops and watch TV all day whilst munching crackers and sugar-free popsicles.

Our hockey team won in overtime last night! Woot! We have a game to watch tonight and then we'll be caught up to the Olympic break. NHL games are paused from 02.06.26 to 02.25.26.

@CallMeKate, I remember those socks!

Sorry this was a bit long, guys. Wishing everyone on this lovely thread a safe and warm Saturday. (It's a good day for cookies with our coffee, because it's a day like any other. )

Lucius is a lucky dog to be so well cared for.
When we had our German Shepherd we used to put her in the shower. She was too big to put in the sink. Unfortunately I can relate to the smelly dog. Lol.

That’s being resourceful. Use the upstairs heating vent to dry him. A smart lady you are.

Happy Saturday everyone.

It’s Saturday again today. Another weekend to relax in. I used to love weekends but now that we are retired, everyday is like a weekend.
The only downside to weekends are that the ATV trails are busier with ATV’s and many of the trails are where we walk our dogs.

Today we chose a forest path which doesn’t have ATV’s. It was a nice walk except there were three people with 3 big dogs who weren’t really caring for them. We had our dogs on a leash and theirs weren’t. Only one dog owner took care of his dog. The other two came over aggressively wanting to meet our dogs. One of them was a huge Rottweiler. The women said he only wanted to sniff our dog , like I was being unreasonable. She couldn’t control her dog so it did come over and smell ours. Luckily we pulled away fast enough that there was no interaction . Next time that happens I’m going to pick my dog up and carry her.




@Kaila- It’s Saturday and no appointments. That’s a plus for Saturday. No appointments means no getting dressed and going outdoors. This is a good thing.

@CallMeKate - I had socks like that also. They were my party socks. I wore them when I went out to party’s.

Good morning, all. Am just taking a break, been changing bedding and put it on to wash. A job that once took very little time now seems to take ages and a bit of a struggle... but I got there in the end.

Hope you are feeling okay @Medusa and that you haven't come down with anything. Also hope husband is improving now.

Fingers crossed you can get a pharmacy sorted out @Kaila... if not then I'll get my son to pick up your prescriptions. Might take a little while to deliver them though.

@PeppermintPatty - yes, Rocco does get groomed at the groomers. As a poodle he really needs a regular 'haircut' every 6 weeks or so. He doesn't have a fancy poodle cut though, no pompoms for him! He gets bathed and nails cut etc. At home, he gets brushed and bathed as and when needed.

Well, dammit. I'm here early today because I'm still in bed. I had a rough night and am not feeling well this morning. The good news is that husband seems to have turned a corner and is feeling better today. I'm so glad about that! He is insistent on going to work today though I really wish he wouldn't, but thankfully, he has Mon/Tues/Wed off after today.

I was supposed to have a dentist appointment on Wednesday, but if this runs the same timeline as my husband's bout with it, I'll have to move that appointment.

I'm frustrated because I wash my hands frequently throughout the day, practice good nutrition, take vitamins, daily walks, exercise. I feel like it's cosmically unfair that I'm sick. Somehow I don't think the virus cares.

@PeppermintPatty, we do not have a fence around our yard, which I'm very much lamenting right now. So that's why our Lucius gets walked so frequently.

@Medusa do you go out into public places a lot with lots of people and no mask? If so, or if hubby is around lots of people with no mask it is easily transmitted. This year the flu and covid are pretty bad here. hope you get better soon.

Oh yes, poodles need regular clipping. They have thick, dense fur. We have a 1/2 poodle and she requires regular clipping. We take her in every 6 weeks or so. We dont have any fancy haircuts either. We have her clipped in an easy to care for hair style that suites us both.

Yes unfortunately the virus doesn’t care that you take all the precautions. It’s not selective.

My sister in law just got over a cold which she said made her the sickest she’s been in her life which included a Covid virus. Colds and flus can be serious illnesses.
