Saturday Morning, early rise or sleep in?

Raising 3 rambunctious boys I became an early riser real fast. To have those moments before
chaos hit. Never did break the habit. Now I listen to birds at sunrise while I drink my 1st coffee
each day. Hubby is the night owl and will sleep to noon if he can.
So I come in here and torment all of you now once the sun has risen. ☮️

I never could figure out what people do at 4am ---- why get up then? I sleep till 11 am and go to sleep at nightaround midnight. I alway said that when I didn't have to get up early for 'work' then I would sleep in. I have never gotten up begore 6am since I stopped my lifelong volunteering.

Me too... I have always been a night bird even when I worked... I'd go to bed at midnight knowing had to be up at 5am...

Now I'm retired, I sleep when I want and I get up when I want.. and like you on the occasions when I get up early for whatever reason..I'm thinking..''what the heck is there to do at this time of the day''?..especially if it's raining and I can't go in the garden..or it's cold.....and the day stretches out endlessly...

It's 45 minutes after midnight now.. and I have no intentions of going to bed yet,...

Same here Bretrick, I have never had a sleep-in ever. I'm up at the crack of dawn and potter about until it's time to go to the shops. Must admit I love the cool mornings and watch the sun slowly rise in the east. I too water the pot plants and do a general cleanup outside.
What time do the shops open near you ?....:)

Local shops open around 6.30 and the big shopping centres open around 8.30. I like to get in early to beat the crowds and the hot weather. The shops at the moment are all really quiet as it's Ramadan here and they eat before the sun comes up, don't eat during the day then eat again when the sun goes down.

Yes the shops open here at 6am..close at midnight. They use to open 24 hours a day but that stopped after Covid...

Ramadan doesn't affect anything where I live because we don't have a Muslim population here ... ... but I suspect it might affect the northern areas of England and parts of London... where there are large Indian populations

I completely understand being a hot country like Australia, it would make more sense to go to the shops early when it's still cool

When I lived in Spain.. the markets wouldn't open until 9am.. so it was already getting hot by then.. I'd leave home at 8.30 to get to the market just as they opened...

When our children were young sleeping in was a challenge on any day of the week. Looking back I truly enjoyed the disruption of one or more of them climbing in bed to get our day started. More recently we have had that experience with grandchildren.

On one occasion a precious granddaughter came to wake us early so Christmas celebration could begin. My wife awoke with her hair a mess and no makeup, to hear that little doll with a shocked expression say, 'Nana is that you?' She's now a beautiful young woman of 18, and we reminisce about that and many more wonderful moments she has brought us.

I sleep in because I stay up late at night. It's this forum, then a political forum, then Youtube. I wake up at 10am on the days hubs works and 9:30am on the days he's off so we can beat the lunch crowd. I'm not a morning person by any stretch of the imagination.

This is also because when I was working I was remote, and our headquarters was in Seattle and they were 2 hours behind. Most of my emails came in between 6 and 8pm because my boss was wrapping up his day. I was always working late.

I admire those of you who wake up early, but I would go out of my mind looking for things to do to fill up the time in the morning.
