Why eat something you know is going to be sour?

I worked for a guy once that would cut a lemon in half then put one half to his mouth and eat the pulp and juice out of it then spit the seeds out and eat the other half as well 😖

He claimed it prevented colds 🤷‍♂️

Why not?

It is interesting that we all enjoy certain ‘good’ sour, sweet, spicy, pungent, foods and reject others.

Years ago I read an article where the author believed that our difference in taste was a primitive defense mechanism that helped to insure the survival of the human race.

The idea being that not all members of the tribe would be drawn to eat poison mushrooms or something similar. Some do some don’t, some survive some don’t, life goes on. 🤷‍♀️

A whole raw lemon is highly nutritious, providing about 29 calories, 89% water and over 85% of the daily required vitamin C. It is low in fat and sugar, containing roughly 2.8g of fibre, 1.1g of protein, and essential nutrients like potassium, vitamin B6, and antioxidants that support immune health and iron absorption. A whole raw lemon promotes immune system health, skin health, as in collagen production and protects cells from oxidative stress.
Oxidative stress is an imbalance between excess free radicals and a lack of antioxidants in the body leading to cell and tissue damage. It occurs when free radicals overwhelm the body's ability to neutralize them, causing chronic inflammation, premature aging, and higher risks of diseases like cancer, alzheimer’s, and heart disease. What a wonder fruit a lemon is.
