What is the capacity of your Country's largest Sports Stadium?

Australia's MCG is our largest with a capacity of 100,024 People.
I attended the 1979 VFL Grand Final with a crowd of 113,545 People.
In 1970, 121,696 attended Carlton Collingwood Grand Final.
Seating capacity was downgraded to 100,024 people due to Health and Safety concerns in 2005 for the hosting of the 2006 Commonwealth Games.
In 1959 143,750 people attended a Billy Graham Evangelical Crusade at the MCG, (including on the oval itself)

Michigan’s ‘Big House’ at around 107,000 also one of the oldest 1927.

My city is home to a tiny stadium, The JMA Wireless Dome 30,000-47,000 depending on how it is configured for different sports, concerts, etc…
Tasmania is about to build a new AFL (Australian Rules Football) stadium at a cost of AU$1.13 billion. Before cost overruns.
Capacity? 23,000

I suppose that the size isn’t as important as the ability to fill it on any given Sunday.

Billions seem to have become the new millions.

The good news is that it creates jobs as the money ripples through the system multiple times, the bad news is that we never actually seem to pay for anything. The mortgages and bonds seem to last longer than the structures that they were intended to finance, planned obsolescence.

why so much tho' ?......Wembley stadium was £1 billion pounds to construct but that's in London, one of the most expensive cities in the world
I put this question to Ai;
The proposed Hobart Macquarie Point stadium is expected to cost over $1.13 billion due to its complex, fixed-roof design, significant construction delays, and rising inflation, with final costs potentially reaching $1.8 billion including financing.
The price is driven by necessary site remediation, substantial consultant fees, and a contractual obligation where the Tasmanian government bears all cost overruns.

good lord, I wonder whose pockets are being lined with gold....

Our largest stadium is only 10,500 seats 🤣
Nova Scotia is a small province though. It’s the second smallest provincial in Canada. P.E.I., being the smallest.

This is Australia, dubbed a "Rich Country". As such most suppliers artificially increase the costs associated with everything.
We are quickly falling into the quagmire of corrupt, unethical behaviour.

I think it would be more expensive to build in Tasmania than in a large mainland city - transport etc of materials.

Optus stadium in Perth cost $1.4 billion and that was few years ago - so about the same to build smaller stadium in Tassie today seems reasonable to me.
