What are you listening to in 2026 ?

The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.

I've always known the name of the band but I realize today that I don't even know what songs they are famous for.

It turns out, I've heard their songs in my life time but never knew it was them.

The video should be an entire playlist called, Twenty Years Of Dirt:

Mr Bojangles
Rippling Waters
An American Dream
Make A Little magic
Fire In The Sky
Dance Little Jean
Long Hard Road
High Horse
Partners, Brothers and Friends

According to drummer Ron Bushy, organist-vocalist Doug Ingle wrote the song one evening while drinking an entire gallon of Red Mountain wine. When the inebriated Ingle then played the song for Bushy, who wrote down the lyrics for him, he was slurring his words so badly that what was supposed to be "in the Garden of Eden" was interpreted by Bushy as "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida".

The Marshall Tucker Band was one of my favorite bands when I was young. I got to see them once down in Houston around 1980. We had lousy seats and the sound was crap, so it wasn't a memorable experience. Thankfully, now we have YouTube videos to experience bands in concert!
