I Love A Good Massage

I just walk down three flights of stairs from my apartment and go out a side door & through a wrought iron gate to a parking lot, and another 45 big steps to undergo 1 hour of sheer delight with a Full Body Swedish Massage from Cindy. Because I am a good tipper she will go generally 75 minutes. Her standard rate is $50 for one hour. I usually go every 10 days and have been able to schedule at times that really suit my convenience like two hours before bed. I take those 45 big steps back to my apartment building & take the elevator up to the third floor, walk down the hall to my apartment, crawl into bed and sleep like a baby.

I get that with a young man at my manicure place. Guess my hormones moved to my feet. A nice pedicure, then massage of legs to every toe. Then hot stones and a fragrant lotion n' more massage. I tip this boy $10 a visit. Probably younger than my oldest but yeah, I would so marry him. Better than sex.

I get my pedicure at a different time and place and love that foot treatment as well. It also keeps me from cutting off or injuring my toes by doing the cutting myself.

I had a great massage from a tiny Russian lady in a hamam in the basement of our hotel in Istanbul. Then I staggered into what I thought was the women's steam room, which turned out to be the coed steam room filled with naked Iranian gentlemen. Believe me, you don't want to see naked Iranian gentlemen. Just take my word for it. No sooner had I hastily vacated the premises when my sister wandered in naked herself. Luckily, we finally ended up in the right place where we spent a lovely hour stretched out on heated marble slabs pouring warm and cool water on ourselves.

Out of concern I had mama quit getting pedicures a couple years back.

I read a negative article plus they did a deal on tv about people getting infections and one gal lost a toe.......getting HIV would be the worst I suppose.

I know not all of the place are unhygienic but I just didn't want her to take the chance.

I have been visiting a woman to receive deep tissue massage for several years now, and following shoulder surgery she did wonders to release the muscles that were causing tension headaches and neck pain. The room in her studio is filled with books on massage and anatomy. Every year she goes off somewhere to study new techniques. I used to go once a month, but have scaled that back to save some money now that I'm working part time. I am always there for at least 90 minutes and come out of the session somewhat sore, but relaxed. I've been having low back pain for some time now and she's been great at trying to break down the tension in the muscle. What's also great about the sessions is that we've come to know one another and we talk about all kinds of things from politics to family to retirement (she's about my age). My next session with her is a week from today as a matter of fact.

Good that you enjoy massages so frequently Lon, and they're so convenient for you. Nice not to have to stress out with driving to and from. I can count the number of massages (and pedicures) in my lifetime on one hand. I don't spend a lot of money on such services, too expensive for my taste. I usually do my own nails without a problem. I do like a good massage, only had one full body and the others were back and neck only to relieve some stress and muscle pain.

I used to get a twice monthly back, neck and shoulders massage. Cheaper than full body. I got a few in Uganda as they were very cheap. They were very good except that they were too rough on the calves and I'd have to keep telling them to lighten up. In Thailand the massages are far too rough and they don't seem to understand that we don't want actual pain! Really bummed about that as they are so cheap and there are hundreds of massage shops to choose from. I will be getting the foot massages though and those include your calves and use coconut oil.

I like to use coconut oil for dry skin. When I take a foot bath at home, I use Johnson's foot soap powder in the water, sometimes I throw in some olive oil. I don't really care for people to work with my feet like they did in the pedicure I had years back, I didn't enjoy it. Maybe at a more expensive salon it would have been a lot better.

A good foot massage is pure bliss!

Well, you guys talked me into going out and getting a spa pedicure which included a short massage, paraffin wax treatment, etc. It felt good, but my toe is still sore because the girl drew blood when trimming around my nail. She said that my skin was so dry, that's why it bled. Well, one of the things I used to worry about going to these places, but it doesn't look like any infection is setting in, so that's good. Also, although my heels are better than they were, they still weren't as smooth as I would have liked after that treatment. Sooooo....probably be awhile again before I get another one. It did feel good, the massage and wax treatment, and the nails look nice in the color I chose.

It's funny but the two places I go the guys do pedicures the best. One of them has ear buds in the whole time so he's got his tunes, I've got a good book, we're both in our happy place. He'll take his time compared to the girls. The guys seem to have more muscle too. If you're on your feet a lot...having them pull each toe and the hot stones on your legs...Oooh, yes, yes, you're younger than my son but would you marry me?
