oh really so the bands in the 70's don't count?... is that correct?..I'm not sure lol.. like the 70's band Sweet for example, would they not count..? they wore really flashy clothes...@hollydolly, hair band were the guys who had long hair & wore flashy clothes. It started in the 80s & continued into the 90s.
I think the Uk was a little bit ahead of the US with this kind of music and bands... we had them in the 70's.. they were gone by and large by the 80's.. where it was then New Romantic..I think they could. It was just more prevalent in the 80s, but it had to start somewhere & the 70s make sense.

I think that "hair bands" were also called "arena bands". Big names and big venues, to go with the big hair!Your right about the hippy 70s music. Not a genre that I cared for.
I was happy when it faded away & rock & disco took over. I know that sounds like a strange combo, LOL. I've always listened to country music & classical as well.
