Do you have your car radio loud?

DH is hard of hearing, so he turns the music (or whatever he's listening to) up really loud. When I get in his truck, I usually have to cover my ears until he can get it turned down. He says he turns it down when he pulls in the driveway, but never knows which service will pop on - he has Pandora, SiriusXM and the regular radio - so it "seems" to pick the loudest one - when I get in. 🤯

Me -- I don't listen to loud music in my car anymore, and it kind of irritates me when I can hear the nearby cars blasting their music at stop lights. With all due respect, especially offensive rap music. When I was younger, I would turn off the radio at times to listen to my car @IrishEyes , always alert to potential mechanical sounds/issues.

I confess, back then - there were times when I just played my music loud, sang like a fool ~ driving on down the road.

Now days..... As @PeppermintPatty mentioned, if we are on a long drive and a song I especially like comes on - I may turn it up a bit, to cover my singing ;) ... but I turn it back down after.

:ROFLMAO:

I like to listen to Sirius XM while driving. If we are two or more in the car, I turn it off. On long drive we talk for a bit then put on a news channel or an opinion piece.
I no longer listen to loud music unless I am alone in the house either cleaning or dancing or doing both at the same time. (Multitasking 😁)

By "radio" I interpret to be the entertainment sound in modern cars. Even the cheap vehicles seem to have much better sounding amps & speakers than older times. For favorite oldies, there isn't enough wattage to totally submerge me but I'll take what I can. No where near the booming jack-wagons you can hear 1/4 mile away though! 1000 watts into a sub-woofer - REALLY !?!?

Hello and Welcome to S.F. Gark! Haven't noticed you before, so hope you find us interesting?
I agree, music so loud it shakes my car windows and floor boards are not to my liking. Just loud enough
to cover the semi's passing me by doing 90 in a 70. My windows are usually up.

While driving, I like it about normal level, but at home, I have it louder, especially if I am playing one of my play lists or have Spotify turned on. I keep it louder at home because if I’m going from room to room, it’s sometimes difficult to hear the music. If I’m working on a project in the garage, or detailing my truck, I keep it pretty loud, but not loud enough to annoy my neighbors.

I used to blare the radio in my cruiser. When I would work the overnight shift, I would use a earbud after midnight that helped to keep me awake. I only used 1 earbud, so I could hear the scanner.

With a 40 minute commute to work for most of my life, I would have to have the radio on to make it bearable.

But since retiring and only occasionally driving, I often forget to put it on.

When I do have it on, I have to keep the volume low enough that I can pay attention to traffic.

With age, my autopilot skills are drastically reduced.

I much prefer that my son drive me around. And the volume is to where we can speak to each other.

I don't remember turning up the volume when I was commuting to work except when "Won't Get Fooled Again" or "Born To Be Wild" came on the radio. Oh, and the drum fill on "In The Air Tonight".

Yep, radio is on a higher volume. Especially with things like Queen, REO, etc come on. Thing is, I can't even hear my truck running from inside radio on or not. Got to love those GM's and their sound proofing.
