Matrix...I Have Two Questions For You

@Matrix...why is it that for some members, their profile pages show the last time they visited the site, but not others?

Also, I've noticed the last few times I used Search, even when getting the thread titles almost verbatim, the threads were not pulled up. Other threads not even related to the topic at all or containing the same words were shown. Search used to be more accurate. What has changed?

I'm not Matrix, but under your preferences option, those you can't see when they last logged in would have the "show your online status" unmarked. And search can be like that, but sometimes it helps to put your words within quotation marks.

EDIT: Sorry, Diva... I thought this was in the forum support section but I see it's questions for members. Just ignore me! :sneaky:

No problem Kate. But I'm noticing that Search is much less efficient than it used to be. I never had to put the words in quotes to pull up what I was looking for before, though granted the threads didn't always come up. Lately they never come up! I'll try using the quotes going forward to see if that helps. Thank you for the information about "online status" as well.

I've noticed this too.

Things to think about - which is the exact title of the thread, brings up pages of options. If you happen to remember the thread was created by Nathan and use his name in the search it pulls up 4 options. I often do not remember who a thread belongs to.
Good thought DebraMae, but if the thread was posted by someone who does a lot of posting and replying, it may still be difficult to find what one is looking for. I've gone through pages of posts trying to find things that way. I've even put in the exact title of a thread I posted just to see what would happen.

Google Custom Search has been removed from the site. We now rely on the built-in forum search, which works a bit differently but does have its advantages. For example, if you want to search this thread, you can simply search for the word “Matrix” and check Search titles only. Google Custom Search only indexed a small percentage of our threads.

The advanced search gives you many options: https://www.seniorforums.com/search/?type=post

Thanks for the info!

they might have just hit the wrong reaction by mistake.
That's what I was thinking too. Lord knows I've done it too @CaliS! And someone hit laugh on a post on which laughter would be highly inappropriate. Since I know that was out of character for that person...I messaged them about it. Sure enough they meant to hit the hug emoji, not the laugh emoji and appreciated me alerting them about the mistake.

It's right next to the hug emoji so I could see it happening. Especially when some of us have lousy eyesight Lol
