A lighter topic... bamboo sheets?

No, I'm not kidding. It gets hot as heck here in Dallas during the summer. I sometimes have to take 3 showers a day. The master bedroom gets particularly hot at night because it is on the first floor and separate from the rest of the house that has two-story ceilings. I've been looking around for "cooling" sheets and found a great set of bamboo sheets on Amazon. I can't say enough about them. They feel silky-smooth and they "breathe". They don't wrinkle in the dryer.

They are so cool that during a few nights where the temps have dropped I've had to pull up the comforter. For anyone that experiences extreme heat in the summer, I would highly recommend you do some research.

Thanks for this info! No AC in this house, although it isn't really needed here. I do use fans during summer months and open windows at night when temps get down below 70F.

I have 100% cotton sheets for summer and 100% polyester ones (WalMart's cheapest) for winter. Makes a big difference. Will try the bamboo ones.

Exactly the same here. NO AC.. but fans ...except I stopped using Polyester sheets because they were so hot...

I have bamboo sheets, only because I found them on the clearance rack at Walmart.

I haven’t noticed a cooling effect but they wear like iron and still look good after many, many, washings.

No air conditioning here, I use a fan year round and regulate temperature by opening and closing the bedroom window. 😉🤭😂

No AC for y'all, either? I thought I was the only one in the world without AC. Huh. As much as I would like to open all windows in summer, I fear wildlife will decide to come in. Last summer we had two bears on the property. Surely, if a bear tried to come through the bedroom window, little Chloe would bark up a storm? There's a scenario that is fun to think about. Not.

Fortunately for us here in the Uk we don't have Bears or any kind of wildlife that is likely to come through the window... just minor insects like flies or such....

On any warm day even in winter I have all my windows open and the back door ..

I have noticed in your posts lately about your leaving windows open. In Winter?! Woah, Nellie! I can't imagine that.

I just bought 100% cotton but have been wondering about bamboo. Maybe next time!

Gene Shalit, who had a house in Stockbridge, MA, was asleep in bed. He awoke to see a mother bear and her cub enter his home. The mom removed the air conditioner from the window, and two of them entered the house. They went to the kitchen. They wreaked havoc. They made the papers after they left. Besides the mess, bears smell - and it ain't of flowers and chocolate.

My kids and I vacationed at a cabin in the mountains of Mass. Bears, habituated to people, were everywhere, no kidding. The cabin had bear-proof screens on the windows and the screen door. The bears would check it out at night. There were always paw prints on my SUV in the morning. We were close to the bears several times, and saw them many times. It was interesting and no one got hurt. My collie got habituated to the bears. He didn't make friends with them, but he was not protective of us when they were around. That sucked. I bought the collie specifically because I didn't want to carry a rifle when we went hiking.

Also, little Chloe might scare the bears away. A bear was trying to enter a tent in the middle of night and a Lab puppy (a little one) chased it away and up a tree. Rule #1: Never go tent camping in bear country if the bears are habituated to people. That seems like common sense to me, but then again, common sense is not always my strongest attribute.

@seadoug, does your house not have air conditioning? I would think that would be standard in all Dallas houses, unless you live in a classic older one. I remember living in mid-Missouri with no air conditioning and taking multiple showers. As soon as I set foot outdoors in the summer I felt like I needed yet another one.

I've heard great things about bamboo sheets even before reading all the responses. I hate to be too warm when I'm trying to sleep. I would have made a terrible pioneer, and I'm definitely not a camper. 😄

Bought a 'summer wife' when in Korea. It's a bamboo cylinder about 8in in diameter and 3-4ft long. It's put in bed with you during the summer to lift the sheets off your body and allow air circulation to keep you cool. Thought it was kinda neat and still have it but have never used it. -Arnold

Yes, our house has 2 A/C units for upstairs and downstairs. However, if I turn the downstairs thermostat down low enough to be comfortable in the master bedroom the rest of the house is freezing! I sleep much better when I'm cold than when I'm warm. I think these new sheets will help a lot.

I've been interested in trying this kind of sheet for quite some time, but it's a bamboo jungle out there, a pun perhaps but nevertheless accurate. Would you please provide a link for the ones you purchased?
