How lovely that you were visited by a bluebird!Perhaps there's not enough light on the bird in my photo, above, to show that it is an Eastern Bluebird.
They're beginning to migrate North, to us.

What's the verdict on this little guy? He has the soft look of a junco to me.
They like our seeds, in the dish, (the bluebirds)How lovely that you were visited by a bluebird! We have yet to see one here; I'm hoping the suet will attract them as well as the woodpeckers.
She really is a beautiful bird. I think that’s the prettiest female cardinal I’ve ever seen.We were visited by the ladies cardinal and woodpecker today.
That’s the male woodpecker! You can see that red spot at the back of his head. Nice videos.
ETA: Is that the lady woodpecker?
Most birds seem to like sunflower seeds. Bluebirds mainly eat mealworms and insects. They will eat sunflower seeds as long as they are shelled. They like our seeds, in the dish, (the bluebirds)
so i think they'll like yours too.![]()
That's another one of the bluebird, without enough light on him, to show off the vivid blue. What's the verdict on this little guy? He has the soft look of a junco to me.
That's right. We do give them the dried mealy worms, but don't have them out there yet.She really is a beautiful bird. I think that’s the prettiest female cardinal I’ve ever seen.

You REALLY DO love your birds. That’s wonderful. I’m surprised that bluebirds are around during the winter. I thought they migrated south. Maybe some birds can’t do the flight. Birds sure are interesting aren’t they? That's right. We do give them the dried mealy worms, but don't have them out there yet.
I thought that was really funny too. The cardinal stops chewing for a while.Oh my goodness @Medusa I have watched your “lemme think a minute” video four times. The look on the cardinal’s face is priceless when the other bird goes flying past aT Mach 80![]()

She had a perfect ‘what the heck just happened ‘ look on her face. I didn’t think birds could even show different expressions but I was sure wrong. I watched that video about 5 or 6 times. lol ! Too funny.I didn’t think it was possible for a bird to wear a “what just happened” look, but that cardinal sure did, lollol
You're right. They do migrate South, for the winter, and they did.You REALLY DO love your birds. That’s wonderful. I’m surprised that bluebirds are around during the winter. I thought they migrated south. Maybe some birds can’t do the flight. Birds sure are interesting aren’t they?
They sure ARE early birds. Wow. The robins aren’t even here yet. At least they aren’t ’here.’ You’ve got quite a bit of snow also. You're right. They do migrate South, for the winter, and they did.
These are the first ones to return...
they're the early birds .
It's a sure sign that Spring is coming.
Not here yet, but it's coming!![]()
There are some other birds that like the dried meal worms, too. The others that like insects such as the nuthatches. They sure ARE early birds. Wow. The robins aren’t even here yet. At least they aren’t ’here.’ You’ve got quite a bit of snow also.
Maybe birds know more about weather than we do. When do they sell mealworms? Are the bluebirds the only ones that eat mealworms?
I bet the woodpeckers like the dried meal worms too. They peck holes in the trees looking for stuff like that. I went to bed at 10:30 too..There are some other birds that like the dried meal worms, too. The others that like insects such as the nuthatches.
I'm off to bed now.
See you tomorrow.![]()
Oh goodie. Your feeders will be like a birdie buffet.Maybe we'll look into getting some dried meal worms as well. I'll mention it to husband.![]()
We are all so easily amused.I know! That was so funny, the way she looked so startled and confused! I was happy that you guys all saw that too.![]()
I really think that cayenne pepper helps bring out her colours.I agree, Patty, the female cardinal really is so beautiful. I haven't seen another like her either.![]()
We’re a blast to be around. You guys are a fun gang to hang out around the feeder.![]()
I like the longer videos. I like the short ones too. I’m not hard to please. I like everything bird related. Thanks again Medusa. A pleasure as usual.ETA: Sorry the last video is long - for some reason when husband shares them with me (as opposed to when I download them from the device myself), they are longer. I think he's maybe asking the device to film or something rather than just grabbing them from the auto-recorded collection.
What state are you in Kaila? Those beautiful black and white wings.... those are the goldfinches, unless I'm not seeing the ones that you asked about.
They are females so they don't get the distinctive yellow- gold body feathers.
If any of them are males, they will start to turn yellow, very soon. Mine are starting to turn, here, and a reminder, I'm several States north of you.
So yours would turn sooner than mine, or very, very soon. Only the males will turn.
Both male and female have those gorgeous wings.

I think you might be right about the cayenne. She really is so colorfully marked and I haven't seen another like her.I bet the woodpeckers like the dried meal worms too. They peck holes in the trees looking for stuff like that. I went to bed at 10:30 too..
