A question for Matrix

Would it be possible to "install" (if that's the correct word) a regular block feature? It would be much more effective and useful than the ignore feature.

yes that's correct. Whoever you have on ignore, still can respond to your posts, but you can't see it...

I would like an option to put a whole thread on ignore, if that was possible to do...

A block feature would stop an individual from interacting with you.
An ignore feature doesn't.

All ignore feature does is make the individual's posts/comments invisible when you're on and reading the forum.. however, the individual can comment on your posts, and, at its worst, can send you direct messages.

I agree with your first comments and yes an ignored person can send a PM>.. but you won't receive it , so you will have no idea that they've sent a PM unless you take them off ignore... The best part of it is that if a person doesn't know you have them on ignore and sends PM's.. they will have no idea you're not reading them..lol

Unfortunately the second part isn't the case.. a direct message will still go through and be received.
I don't think anyone on this forum would be sleazy enough to do that, but I've been on the receiving-end of it on another forum.

actually I have quite a few people on Ignore over the last 12 years.. I hve never seen one single PM from them even tho' I know many of them have sent them

if you go into your settings you can block people from sending you dm's.
 
That's odd- I went into my account page, and Settings is the only item in the list that doesn't give me the option to change anything..
