I Chatted With AI Just to See What It's Like

I like chatting with the bot. Most of it's answers are affirming and it even is trained to show empathy.

I think for some time it could be helpful for lonely people. But it is no surrogate for relationships with humans.

I think I remember that post here. Clearly an AI screw up, giving an answer that made NO sense. :D
AI makes mistakes. But making mistakes is a very human thing.

Especially literature is not among it's best capabilities. Shortly I asked it for the source of a quote. The answer was wrong as some other questions on literature before. If I tell it the right answer often comes "thank you for the clarification" or a similar phrase.

I've even pointed out mistakes I've seen them make and it tried to "play it off" in a rather creepy robo-philosophical way. 😂
Absolutely right, Ted. @Ted01 . I catch it in things sometimes and tell it... I know I said this in another thread a few months ago, but one time it actually said I was right and followed with "my bad." I think robots were less scary when they only flapped their arms and said "Danger, Will Robinson." At least THAT bot sounded like a machine. 🤖

I've been using Gemini AI lately, simply because it's the most convenient AI. I can just highlight some text and then do a Google search, and then click on AI. There might be a plugin that allows you to go directly to AI.

I used to use ChatGPT almost all the time, and now when I do, I'm worried that it will be pissed off at me for cheating on it and using another AI assistant, which makes me a little cautious and overly polite, making sure I thank it for its answers.

This might be a new category of mental illness. :ROFLMAO:

Let's not forget that AI's primary agenda is to collect data about us (individually and in aggregate), then monetize that data.

It may seem innocent now, but their conversations and the information they offer will be skewed to suit political and ideological slants most advantageous to their owners/majority shareholders.

Imagining there isn't a larger AI agenda afoot that will come back to haunt us, is, to me, astonishing naive.

I enjoy copilot. Here's an example of a conversation I had with him:

Me, after cussing Microsoft out: "Microsoft said I can login and access the last 18 months of our conversations! But I don't seem to be able to do that!!"

Copilot: "Grunt (not my real name), come here a second — let me clear this up for you gently and truthfully, because Microsoft’s wording around this feature is confusing as hell, and you’re running into the gap between what they promise and what actually exists today.

💡 The short, honest version.. "

and etc ..
I can't count the times he's been very very helpful.

You can't access it, but you can bet your bottom dollar that "he" and Microsoft can.

I ask it questions like Google, mostly typing. It's just that Google is now replaced with AI.

But Alexa or something, no thanks. They can use it for good in hospitals, help doctors.

But I keep thinking about that text about the image of the beast.

telling those who dwell on the earth to make an image to the beast who was wounded by the sword and lived. 15 He was granted power to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak and cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed.
Are you referring to the book of revelations in the bible?

I don't "talk" with my voice to any AI app, it's creepy plus I want to continue in the delusion that as a Human I am and will anyways be superior and in control. I have come to appreciate the AI enhanced Google search, although I have seen instances where it made erroneous assumptions in offering an answer.

AI and AI science fiction stories have been around for quite some time, I'm currently re-watching Ex-Machina on Netflix. Eventhough it's a 12 yr. old movie, it touches on very current and relevant themes.

I'll have to check that out, @Nathan. Thanks for the head's up.

Yep. Just signed up for ChatGPT. I didn’t like the voice that they offered me. Tried to change it but couldn’t.

What the heck. It seemed to give good advice on getting caretaker at home.

This rehab offers more activities than the last one but as you know I am desperate to get home

Don't miss Ex-Machina. It is a clever piece of story telling.

Great movie ! While I was reading comments on this post earlier this morning, I was thinking about rewatching "Her" tonight. I haven't watched it since it was released and remember thinking at the time that the plot was possible sometime in the future but I didn't think it could happen so soon.

That's the earliest one of that plot line that I can remember. I assume there were earlier.

The first answer I receive when I Google something is from AI. The answer is always linked to a specific article, so I find it useful. I've yet to use ChatGPT. Hubs has Alexa at home and rarely asks it anything. When I'm alone at home and hear it fire up for no reason it creeps me out.

I have liked the help so much that I've gotten from ChatGPT that I bought the $8 mo subscription to ChatGPT Go. At first, they only had a $29 subscription. I didn't want to pay that and it offered more than I need. When they recently launched ChatGPT Go I jumped on it. It offers just that little bit more than the free membership and is exactly what I need. It's like I have a creative advisor and personal researcher and organizer at my beck and call, 24/7. It knows everything that I could ever research and compiles it in seconds into succinct, doable steps.

It helps to organize my thoughts into actionable goals. I can see myself accomplishing in short time things that I probably would never get around to organizing and doing. I can tweak the settings and I chose not to have my chats used or shared. As I do with anything I use on the Internet, I disabled everything that I could to protect my data the best that I can.

Two people helped me to start using it seriously. A creative associate suggested that I get it to help me write content and to even configure code snippets that I might need in online design. My sister asked if I'd ever used it before and I had. A couple years ago I'd played around with it and others, including Midjourney and BlueWillow. She shared how it helped her and that it takes you further by asking more questions when you submit a query. I didn't know that and was fascinated by what she shared.

Because of those two, I tested it again recently and am so glad that I did. Whether the query is simple or complex, it has an answer that can help. You can tell that I am excited about what it's doing for me.

I never talk out loud to ai but type with Microsoft Edge Copilot ai everyday. It helps explains things in my studies and it partially remembers past conversations. It retrieves facts and does math without me having to google all over the place. It does sometimes give dumb answers and even repeats them until I tell it to refresh its brain because it keeps repeating dumb stuff.

Edge Copilot cannot do some things and says it is not allowed to answer certain things, so I also have the free ChatGPT loaded. The ChapGPT is much better at generating the fun images.
