What has been the best and worst Vacations you've had

I'm new. Hello to all. Looking forward to getting to know people better.

Worst vacay was a fishing trip to Canada. Hotter than Hades, mosquitos bigger and more of them than where I live (didn't think that was possible), cabin with no shower and with mosquitos, had to portage boats (carry them) through paths my bf at the time knew of from years ago but were overgrown, hard to find and a lot further to get to the lake than he had indicated. And more.

We were with another couple, he worked with the guy, I hardly knew them but they weren't real impressed with him either. He'd bragged up this trip, only one who had ever been before and they really anticipated it, as I did, and well, it wasn't that great. I did catch a lot of nice fish one day but that only ticked him off.

Lots of better vacays over the years though. I'm not including childhood, just adult trips. Best I would have to say was Sturgis. We actually only did one afternoon and evening in Sturgis while the rest of the trip was sightseeing, a concert in Rapid City, different accommodations and areas and I was just with the right bunch. Two couples again, but a different bf and just GOOD people, FUN people. All on bike. I'd never been a "biker" type in my life and I loved EVERY single minute of it.

It's really about, imo, who you go with or even if you go alone. The people one is with can make or break the trip/ruin the vacay.

I've been on a lot of other trips over the years, Mexico a dozen times, AZ, FL, both more than once, Vegas several times, back to South Dakota and Wyoming two more times and other states too. Been to a number of NFL games, a few NASCAR races, etc.

I have only been out of country to MX and CN but I used to want to and had the chance to go to a few places but never did for one reason or another.
 
I can't remember any bad vacations, but I did have a few trips from hell getting to/returning from international conferences. I won't bore anyone with the details.

I've had many great vacations, but the one that stands out is when I was attending a conference in Barcelona and hubs flew in to meet me afterward. We stayed in the Gothic quarter, overlooking the shops. We would walk to restaurants at 10pm to have tapas. We experienced it like the locals. On the Sunday that we were headed to the airport, there were multi-generational families dancing together in front of a church near our hotel. It was magical.

A close second would be our cruise to Vietnam and Thailand out of Singapore and into Hong Kong. Vietnam was amazing, and I can't say enough about Singapore and Hong Kong. We stayed a couple of days on each end of the cruise.

London was also amazing. We were coming off a cruise out of Southampton and stayed a couple of days there. We took the double-decker bus all around the city (like typical tourists) and bought last-minute tickets to Spamalot and Avenue Q in Leicester Square. We even went on the London Eye. We had authentic fish and chips. :ROFLMAO: It was memorable.

Every place you mention here are places I used to hope to go one day. Vietnam probably number one. All of them though, and a few others as well. Maybe in my next lifetime the way life is going these days. :)

Sounds awesome.

I'm one of those people that really never wants to come home from a trip. Most people I know after say a week are ready to get home. Not me. I love travel.

I watch travel videos and travel virtually now I guess lol. Maybe one day I will get back to it, have to see how life goes.

All the trips you mention here sound like they were fun and well worth it.
 
As an adult have never taken the kind of paid vacations or trips most others do. Some of my own vacation like, backpacking trips have been duds because of constant Mexican Monsoon thunderstorm weather or smoky skies from distant wildland fires. Some of my photography road trips years ago were duds because conditions were mediocre, weather very windy, or worst distant wildland fire smoky skies. In this era, I use the Internet weather etc websites, to greatly avoid the above.
