What Did You Have on Your Last Sandwich?

Honestly, something I had not had in years. A grilled cheese. I went back to basics, well mostly, despite having a few other cheeses I could have used. Instead of mixing them up, used just Colby cheese. It melts, it ends up stringy, it's what we used in childhood slicked of a big block from the local creamery.

My bread though wasn't the white of childhood. It was an Italian loaf I sliced (it's what I had) but I wanted to change up that childhood sandwich a bit. After buttering the bread, I took my everything bagel seasoning and sprinkled the outside of the bread with it. Added a bit of paprika on the inside on top of the cheese. And then I made myself exercise patience and watched it until it was just perfect and golden outside and melty inside.

W/it I had a cup of from scratch chicken rice soup.

I don't eat a lot of sandwiches and as I said haven't had a grilled cheese in years but man that day it was just right.

Was at DD's for dinner last night - we try to get together at least once a week, oftentimes for dinner.

DGD requested paninis for dinner, so I brought along my panini press and some of the ingredients. DD broke out press and laid out all the ingredients. Everyone dressed our panini sandwiches according to our own tastes, then pressed them. DD also made a green salad to go alongside.

Mine had a light spreading of olive tapenade, TJ's canned Grecian style eggplant (stewed eggplant, tomatoes & onions), spinach leaves, seared tofu, and I can't remember what else, but it was delish!

My last sandwich was ham and cheese on white bread with mayo and lettuce. It was pretty good.
that sounds good to me. i was just thinking since seeing this thread of my favorite sandwiches.

my all time cold one is probably the BLT without a doubt but it has to be with fresh homegrown tomatoes.

a close second is roast beef. now if at a deli sandwich shop with more of a sandwich roast beef, mayo, tomato and onion. if leftover cold roast at home, white bread, butter, onion and ketchup. same way i do leftover meat loaf. just those things.

hot sandwiches, i love a good french dip or philly beef. love a good patty melt for a burger. love other burgers too but do love the patty melt.

going a bit gourmet which is rare for me but occasionally i do. avocado definitely. tomato always. chicken or egg (depending breakfast or later), and some other adds.

back to cold I am always up for a good chicken salad or egg salad. i vary the way i make chicken salad a lot, the egg salad not as much.

oh and ham and cheese good for me too! Cold or warm or grilled. Can vary such a lot.

has to be the right bread, or toast, with the right thing. :D

Irish ham, cheese, white onion, lettuce on buttered Alpine bread with tarragon Dijon mustard.

I have no idea what Irish ham is. It was on special at the deli. I only bought it because I had company. It was sliced very thin which was nice.

97% fat free ham and American cheese made with 2% milk on low carb Italian toast with a schmear of spicy brown mustard, chips, and a pickle.

I pressed the ham in a paper towel to blot the excess moisture and warmed it with the cheese in the microwave oven for a few seconds before assembling the sandwich.

Why does deli ham pop and explode when it is heated in the microwave? 🤔
