Just throwing this unrelated story in - since I heard something about it on a TV station this morning, then looked it up, and here's what AI said about lobster:

"In 17th to 19th-century America, lobster was considered low-class "trashfood" or "cockroaches of the sea," commonly fed to prisoners, apprentices, and slaves, or used as fertilizer. Abundant in New England, it was deemed food for the poor, until late19th-century rail travel and improved cooking methods turned it into a high-demand delicacy."

I'd heard that before. I'm glad I never acquired a taste for it since it's so expensive.

New here. Still getting used to. Just diving in I guess until I learn my way around and get to know people a bit.

I like to cook so food threads I'll probably go into quite a bit.

When I can I make a meal that I can just heat up a portion of for 3 to 4 days. I always have a green salad made up most of the time if I want something else for a switch. I also sometimes have a meal ready I don't heat up, like a pasta salad or chicken salad.

Last dish I made that I still have some of I can heat up is a pasta with ground sausage in it. Turned out very good. I never measure, I just cook and throw in what I feel like or need to use up at the time lol.

This one was hot sausage, asparagus, pasta shells, shaved parmesan, garlic, Italian seasoning, some milk, a bit of broth, and some sour cream. That's probably not everything but is the basics. A bit of flour of course on the sausage to help thicken the sauce. Sometimes I go a Cajun route with a similar dish, or use a different cheese, etc.

We went to see a movie today and I have food/drink credits at AMC Theaters that expire tomorrow. It is a theater that has food delivery to the seats. They wouldn't let us order food for take-out after the movie, so we ordered a supreme pizza 20 minutes before the end of the movie. The movie had already ended and they were cleaning the theater. We waited outside the theater. The waiter with the pizza came toward us, we scooped it up and headed home to chow down! Scamming the system? Maybe, but I earned those credits.:ROFLMAO: The pizza was excellent!

Trader Joe's chicken burrito bowl mic'd for lunch and a mic'd potato for just finished dinner. My 66 inch height, weight, is currently at 135 pounds or a few pounds below what it was before last week's road trip to LA County during the heat wave.

fast thinking..I like that! (y)

Last night was a panini at DD's. DH & I are thinking we'll make paninis again tonight before I put the press back in its slot in the garage. Might as well, since we have the leftover Trader Joe canned eggplant mix and all other ingredients are on hand.

We don't have a Trader Joe's near us. I wish they'd go into a few more areas. My sister and I were just talking of that the other day. She used to live where there is one but since retiring, does not. Now she has to do a once in a blue moon trip over an hour and a half away, one way. No wait that is for me, she is like an hour away one way. Quite the trip anyhow for either of us.

I do have more where I live than she does though for places to shop.
