Embarrassing question about stools

I've had narrow stools for quite awhile. I've had colon cancer tests and colonoscopys, all negative. Have regular movements and no issues. I've never had other GI issues and never brought it up to my gastro but I will next time. Is this just being 70? I know whats on the internet but what say you?

I think 'narrow stool' is common among old folks, particulary over age 75.
I have so called, 'IBS' which is incomplete stools with often diarehha. With Rx med which my G.I. doctor rx'ed has been helping in great deal. Recently, my stool has been 'regularity,' no longer IBS to worry about, but my stools is sort of 'narrow' twice a day.

Guessing that our Colon getting 'narrow' which contributes 'narrow stool. My Gastroentologist . told me 'colon' is 'muscle' which probably getting narrow and weaker as we age. My IBS which started 2 years ago and G.I. Doctor told me 'it's age' my G.I. system getting weaker.

Your worry about it is understandable, but you may not concern as long as you have regularity.
Ask your G.I. Doctor on your next appointment.

I would increase my 'apple a day' to two apples a day for nice big fluffy stools.

I will say increase the fiber in your diet. More veggies, fruits, and legumes. The doctor asked me to use carrots and cucumbers for snacking. I have added more fruits and vegetables that normally were not a interest for me. Asparagus, strawberries, squash. I have finally grasped the concept of it you don't try it, you don't know if you like it.

I have always liked squash but fried. I have learned sometimes we have to experiment and find new health ways for foods. I still don't eat things I don't like but at least I give them a chance.

I take 1 Senna Plus tablet with dinner every night. It does a great job keeping my stools regular and looking normal. My wife also uses Senna Plus. I'm 91 and my wife is 87.
Both you and your wife is very lucky. I took Senna when my conspitation started that was about 15 years ago and I even did not reach in my 70s. Senna did not work for me and I just ignore it.

Conspitation lasted about a week or more that aggrevated my colon(in my guess). After more years passed by, I felt a strange feeling, 'gurgling' and pain in my lower abdomen. That precipitated IBS which is 'incomplete' BM along with 'diarehha and several time to the bathroom which sometimes occurs in the middle of night, even very early morning, 3 - 4 a.m. that interrupted my sleep.

Rx helps, but it's to be my life-long struggle, even though I have no idea how many more years I'll be on this Earth.

I buy Now supplements as well, but not the psyllium. What do you put it in to take it....cold drink, hot drink, hot cereal?? @PeppermintPatty @IKE
@Mitch86 and @Amanda76 I've been taking Senna for a couple of years. It works gently and well when I remember to take it.
:poop:
I stir two tablespoons into a half cup of water and drink it down as quick as I can.

You could stir it into fruit juice or add it to oatmeal, yoghurt, etc…

It is recommended that you don’t take it within two hours of any medication because it may limit the absorption of the medication.

Also, it can be a choking hazard to some folks and may need to be stirred Into a 12oz glass of liquid.

I find it unpleasant but it does provide results.

Thank you. I'll stick to my Senna or make it a point to eat more fiber.
