The Beauty of Corvids

As much as I 💕 watching corvids, I don't know much about them. What is the easiest way (from a distance) to tell if I'm looking at a crow or a raven?
I was curious so I looked at some comparison pictures of Crow and Raven beaks and they are so close that I don't think I could tell them apart at a glance, really. I think I'll stick to, "Ravens are big and fluffy."

A photoI took with my phone today of a pair of jackdaws.

Jackdaws are a resident and very common bird in the UK but apparently not in the USA so I thought you might like to see the photos, even though not good quality - as ever😁. They are the smallest of crows in the UK with a black head and silvery grey nape.

I hadn't heard of this pretty bird, previous so I read the blurb from the Wiki. Thank you for posting this; gave me an opportunity to learn.

Wiki:

Jackdaws are two species of bird in the genus Coloeus closely related to, but generally smaller than, crows and ravens (Corvus). They have a blackish crown, wings, and tail, with the rest of their plumage paler.[2] The word Coloeus is Neo-Latin, from the Ancient Greek for jackdaws: koloiós (κολοιός).[3][4] They come from Asia, Europe, Africa, and Siberia.

Taxonomy
While some authors consider Coloeus a subgenus of Corvus, others have classified Coloeus as a distinct genus in the family Corvidae.[5] Following Birds of South Asia: The Ripley Guide,[6] the International Ornithological Congress has also reassigned the two jackdaw species from the genus Corvus to the genus Coloeus.[7]

The rare time I’ve heard someone say they were attacked by crows, I take another look at them and judge them as jerks. The crows are smart and had a reason for this.

For real. If the crows don't like you, I'm not seeing you in my future.
