Watching Doc Martin and one thing that is brought home to me

There is no way could I live in a place like Portwenn.
I require anonymity. Portwenn is so small, the shops and services are too intimate.
Everyone knows everyone else's business, probably because there is little else to do.
I really do not enjoy being scrutinised as soon as I walk in the door of an establishment.
As I have mentioned previously, I would happily live a hermit lifestyle.

The whole town is full of characters with the same limitations and that's what makes the show so endearing. People aren't perfect but when they come together, they can get help each other. Each individual has a small something to offer and they all survive despite their mistakes. It's a celebration of being human.

American television is a bore full of characters who speak with an unjustified, over the top authority.

I watched that show every week PBS had it on. I liked the show, but it ran its course. I wouldn't want to live there. All Doc Martin ever ate was fish. You kept seeing him slicing up a fish for supper. I could never live anywhere that people only ate fish or rice.

Besides only an idiot, would keep calling other people idiots. A doctor should know better. I think my favorite character was PC Penhale. He was funny.

I enjoyed Doc Martin and I agree with you about small town living, the gossip or information sharing is intense and often mean spirited.

I prefer the anonymity of living in the city.

I’ve been in my current apartment for over 15 years and only know one neighbor, mainly due to his persistence.

Loved the show. I always thought I’d like to visit Portwenn but wouldn’t want to live there.

It was listed as a comedy - raw comedy - no brain work to do - just sit back and laugh!! the locations were real but not the characters??
