Is this a scam #

Took me just a moment to find it. It is legitimate. It's called Everbridge Public Alerts SMS. Different safety departments are using it for emergency alerts.

The question is, why did you get this if you didn't sign up for it? Why does it seem to not provide any information?

My wife got the same thing, she clicked the link, I didn't. I think it's a robocall and if you click the link you're subscribed. We've gotten alerts before but it's an alarm tone followed by a message about a storm or public safety event (shooting).
 
I don't think I like the idea of that setup. I get my warnings from my local news station in the form of alerts on my phone. They can keep the robocalls.

I would be with the group that simply blocks anything that looks like spam. There are so many attempts to get personal information to use in nefarious ways. I think it is better to er on the side of caution.
 
Just my thoughts.
Do not tap any link supplied to you from anyone, anywhere. No matter how familiar the site may be. NO!.
Go to the web site you know and log in to find out if there is an issue.
Do not tap the link provided. Do not accept their logic. Do not be impulsive. DO not tap any link provided.
If it seems to good to be true................................it is!
