We have an eagle nest in our local mountains above 7,000 feet near Big Bear Lake. Jackie and Shadow have given us many eaglets over the years.
For the latest two chicks, there is now a name contest open, <www.friendsofbigbearvalley.org/naming-contest> For a live video of the nest see <www.friendsofbigbearvalley.org>

Left: This was supposed to be our Easter Sunday cake, but we were all so stuffed that no one wanted it. I suggested cutting the cake at a
farewell party for my wife's pilgrimage to Turkey and Greece, but we could not come together all at the same time. Yesterday, she visited the <www.houseofvirginmary.com> near Ephesus, as well as the tombstone of Apostle John a few miles further. Today in Istanbul, she prayed at the <www.hagiasophia.com> and other places. At this moment, she is on a flight to Athens. Will the cake still be edible for a "welcome home" party?
Right: While my wife is away, I am pruning her roses and cleaning up her whole garden mess. When I sent her pictures, she already thanked me.

Termites attacked our barbecue patio, and I have to take it apart and re-build the whole place. Our old house needs so much work.

Left: For $500 I had the red automatic "earthquake gas shut-off valve" installed. Right: Even our block wall needed a
repair. Behind the lattice on the left used to be our children's play area but is now our dogs "safe from coyotes"
recreation place. Our dogs are much heavier than coyotes but can't match their furiosity.

I wish our children, who should inherit the house, would be more eager keeping it in shape rather than letting it decaying.
But they are so busy. I am running out of steam and money. Eventually we may have to sell the house and move into some
senior place. I still change the oil on our cars, but how much longer can I keep doing it?

I am happy to say I had what I call a break down day. As you know, I don't sleep well. Usually once a week I hit the wall, today was the wall. I slept all day, very well.

Finally feel rested, better! Got up about 7 pm, took a shower. Proud to say I left the house, went to Walmart, picked a few things. Saw and spoke to real world people.

I will be up all night and into the morning. I am going to do a flip, stay awake long enough to go to bed at a decent evening time, like a normal person. Wish me luck!

At 6:30 a.m. yesterday I spent two hours at my instrument playing around and experimenting with rhythms I haven't used yet. I was pleasantly surprised that I was able execute runs after not practicing for so long. I also worked on revising one of the first songs I composed when I got my first Clavinova in 1998 or 99. Another pleasant surprise was finding a revised version I had already started in 2024 and forgot about, so I'm almost there! 🎶🎶 :)

The song has no bridge, therefore I have to create interest melodically and have one more section that needs "something". Otherwise I think I like it better than the original version, which I saved in iTunes and YT music but never released. It is a New Age-Ambient-Smooth Jazz fusion that I'm fairly certain will be my next release. BTW, I was plugged into my earbuds so as not to disturb my neighbors.

I also put away the Costco groceries that had to be refrigerated and frozen. For the last three days I've had a tightness and annoying ache near my left shoulder running down the left side of my back about 5 inches. It seems to have come out of nowhere, is not a constant ache and only bothers me when I move that arm. My son rubbed the area with arthritis cream and that seems to have helped a little. Not sure what I'll do today besides loading and running the dishwasher and putting away the rest of the Costco haul. I certainly need to tackle some other chores and will have to figure out what to eat, which may involve cooking. 😒

Since you've had the cake since Easter, no your cake should not serve as a welcome home dessert. Here's what I pulled up about how long cakes will last.
how long will a cake last in the fridge - Bing

Thank you for sharing the interesting links to where your wife has traveled. May she always be safe during her travels. I've been following Jackie and Shadow and their little family on the news. I watch GMA & World News Tonight and they delight in covering the eagles' story during which they've been showing their nest with the eggs, then little ones as they hatched. Excellent idea to install the earthquake gas shut off valve.

Morning all, on early walk at 6:50, a slight breeze, temp was 60 as I strolled around the building as the sun was peaking through the clouds
This morning, Mary is picking me up at 9:30,this week's 'road trip' stop at my church to pickup attendance sheets in my mailbox, then go to Walgreens a half a block away need couple items
I've invited a church friend, Fran for lunch/tour of Gates, at noon. She also lives in the same apt complex I used to live, she's never been here
The rest of my day read today's NYT, weekly dinner get together with the guys in dining room at 5:30
Everybody have a great day

Today my physical therapist is coming again. He was here yesterday. He made me walk with no aides. It was hard.

Also coming is a Meals on Wheels case mgr. my dil has been working so much to ensure me services.

The daily aide comes around 9:30am. Her name is Ofawna. She is from Guyana in South America. I have trouble with her accent. Nice young woman around 40? Younger? Older!! I don’t know. I am finding this all very difficult. I’m a private person at home.

I'm so glad to read that you are home and getting help Pepper. It won't be easy, but this is so much better than being in that facility with substandard care. Bless you DIL for being such a help. I met a woman who is from Guyana when I used to go to the senior center. We became instant friends. I absolutely love the positive energy she exudes, so love being around her. I hope you will get the same kind of energy from your aide. My friend doesn't have much of an accent, however. I know that part can be difficult. Try you best to push through and heal well my friend.

Probably all of us are private people at home.. especially if we live alone. I certainly am... so when I had my accident, and the nurses had to come every other day it was difficult for me, it wasn't even the same nurse.it was a competely different nurse every time..... but you have to do what's best for you at the time, and just go with the flow, because you'll get better quicker, and then you'll get your privacy back !

Good morning everyone; I'm having a hard time getting moving today. I'm just tired and dispirited because of a work situation. Also, we've had some lovely days here lately—yesterday we got close to 70 (21 C); hooray! But today we have snow in the forecast for tonight and tomorrow. 😕

I got very excited the other day because I noticed one of the first ocean liner books I ever bought for sale on Amazon by a third-party seller for $1,000! But I checked other sites, including eBay, and noted that most of the prices (for a hard copy in mint condition, like I have) hovered around $30. So much for a potential windfall. ☺️That Amazon seller apparently didn't do their research.

I do have at least one book that is worth at least a few hundred—it's just a matter of whether I can bring myself to part with it, or any of the others.

I'm feeling so draggy, but I have a big deadline tomorrow, so I'm going to have to force myself to perk up. Coffee should help.

I hope everyone is having a good day, or afternoon, or evening.

Good afternoon Peeps of SF....🌞🌞

It's a glorious Sunny day here.... mid 60's...

I've just spent the last 2 hours mowing the lawns... and cutting back the hedges.. It's been 10 days since I mowed them last, and this new mower needs the grass to be very short or it'll struggle with it.. With my old mower I could wait 2 weeks sometimes 3 , but not this one so it has to be done even tho' it already looks short.

My back is killing me... all the sweeping up of the leaves etc... I got all the one side and the top of the hedge all done, I just have to do the other side , another day, maybe tomorrow depending on whether it's going to rain or not..

Have the best day you can everyone.... 🌺

Good morning, SFers! What a difference a day makes! Dragged and felt crummy until nearly evening yesterday—wasn't even up to a morning shower—having had a vacc Tuesday, but I'm back in the PINK today! Very slight soreness at the injection site, but otherwise fully back to normal.

On the plus side, I started reading the only Andy Weir book I'd not yet gotten to, Artemis, and am loving it. A day to do nothing but laze around in sweats and read was a delightfully self-indulgent silver lining to the vacc side effects cloud.

@packleader: That cake would be endlessly calling me, including in my sleep. There'd be no peace in my life until it was consumed. Not sure if I'm more impressed or astonished at your discipline.

Beautiful weather here today, high of 75°. Hope you all find a way to enjoy the day!

I love hearing how chipper you are!

I know how those bad days can get to wearing you down.

Rather busy with photography and html coding for my website. The below are 11 recent image thumbnails worked Monday and Tuesday. My next visit when weather forecasts again show light brezes to our local San Jose Municipal Rose Garden is likely to be this Saturday morning. Then in the afternoon downtown in San Jose is an outdoor blues rock band concert.

You're a very talented photographer!

Morning all, early morning walk at 6:50 ,temp was 54 ,cloudy felt dampness after overnight rain as I strolled around the building before breakfast
My plans today, weekly Fri exercise class at 10 always a good workout. What I love about the class, our instructor, Susie is terrific, mentions every time to go at your own pace, listen to your body don;t have to follow everything she does. When I started to come{last July} a couple other residents have attended as well, there are now about 15 of us.
The rest of my day see what lunch/dinner menu is, read today's NYT. I hope to get another walk in this afternoon if its not raining
Everybody have a good day

G'afternoon peeps of SF.... 🥂 cheers to you all on My birthday...... 💞

On Tuesday I'm getting my cortisone injection in my hip.. so I'm looking at that pain relief as a birthday gift...lol

Good morning! I hope everyone slept well!

Tomorrow's forecast keeps changing. First it's supposed to have an all day rain, then they said that it will be clear by morning, then back to all day rain. They can't seem to make up their mind! 🙄 Anyway, I have no clue if I'm going skating or not. The decision will happen in the morning. 🛼

Right now, the sun is shining bright! It's going to be a beautiful day! I'm not sure what I'll get into. I hope you have bail money ready for me!!! 💰

I hope you have a great birthday, @hollydolly. 😊

I woke up to 2 inches of snow; ugh! I am so, so over winter by this point. I'm meeting my friends later for our weekly coffee, but right now I must get to work. I promised someone I'd have this one particular article to them "first thing" this morning, so I need to get moving on that one because right now it is "morning" but not "first thing."

I'm so glad it's Friday!

Hope everyone is well.
