Germans make last-ditch attempt to save humpback whale Timmy

The humpback whale that has been stranded off the coast of Germany for weeks has been successfully brought to a ship's water tank, German media report. Rescue workers used ropes and a harness to move the stranded animal from its spot and bring it to the vessel.

That ship must now return the humpback whale to the open waters of the North Sea. According to Die Welt, Timmy made a sound when he reached the ship's water tank. Bild writes that he swam the last stretch on his own and that the rescue workers started cheering. The organizers of the rescue operation also told the newspaper that they are overjoyed.

According to Bild, the operation went so fast that the tugboat Robin Hood is still in port. It must now set sail to tow the boat and the water tank to the North Sea. According to Environment Minister Till Backhaus, the combination will set sail on Tuesday evening. It is not yet clear how long that journey will take.

The German economy goes down rapidly, every day dozens of knive attacks and rapes happen in Germany's cities, BUT the whale is important. The tabloid "Bild" even has livestreams of the whale rescue. Not that I am not for rescuing the whale, on the contrary. But Germany did what it always does. Too late, too unskilled. I doubt that the whale will survive.

Another person unhappy with their government. I think our governments so often deserve our criticism. I also hope the whale survives.

My wife and I were so unhappy with our several governments since the year 2000 that we left Germany in July 2025 forever. Unfortunately we couldn't do it earlier.
