Went to town this morning. Bank for cash, library to return books, clinic to get a copy of a recent CT scan report, Safeway for yogurt (only they carry the one I like), WalMart for a few things, Dollar General for another few things, then Subway for lunch/dinner.

The physician who ordered the CT scan, done two weeks ago, has never called me with the results so I went to the GP's office and requested a hard copy of the report. I can read it. Nothing remarkable or new. I am not surprised. Glad for that.

Gas is now $4.39/gallon. Ouch.

Wellll… ::ragged sigh::

Been to Ed’s funeral. Held it together til the grave-side service and the military honor guard folding the flag and handing it to his daughter 😭

Such a beautiful ceremony for a respected man who was always, as the pastor pointed out, a ’Servant Leader’

RIP Ed

£7.20 ( $9.75 USD Apprx) per gallon here where I live.. very high, but cheaper than other parts of the uk ...very afraid these prices are not going to come down again

Yesterday and today were difficult. I found out that one of the publishers I work for, a national nonprofit, will start outsourcing their work. That means an almost immediate cessation of about 75% of my workload. I'm trying not to panic. This has happened twice before, and both times virtually no notice was given.

I keep my resume updated; and I've been working on copyright- and NDA-free samples of my work (not an easy task); and I crafted a contract to use with independent clients, whom I prefer to avoid, but I made a couple just in case. I get contacted every now and then through the professional associations to which I belong, even though my status is set to Unavailable.

We'll see. 🤷🏻‍♀️🤞
@KSav It's so difficult. It isn't global warming that is causing a rise in the oceans. It is the tears of parent/adult child estrangements.
It is indeed, @GoodEnuff. I just distracted myself from my work worries and went to see a movie. I was fine, very absorbed, until the end, when a quick scene of kids playing Chutes and Ladders triggered a specific memory, and the tears started. (It was a horror movie—I'm sure some of my fellow theater-goers were thinking "Why is this lady crying?" :LOL: )

@CinnamonSugar, that sounds like a very touching service. I'm glad your friend Ed received such a nice tribute.

@Pepper, I'm sending you a big hug.

I'm sending hugs to all of you, in fact. 🫂🫂🫂 I'll probably take some time off because my mood is just low.

What a day. I spent a good part of the night into the morning awake, trying to keep up with the leak over my cabinets by emptying basins and putting down paper towels about every 1/2 hour to 45 minutes. I also did some light cleaning. The plumbers were supposed to get here by 9 and shut off the water for the 3 buildings (on the same line as ours) but didn't show up until 11. Luckily the maintenance man was cleaning the hallway in our building otherwise I don't know who else with a key fob I might have gotten to open the gate for them so they could park their truck in the parking lot.

Three men walked in. One looked like he was 19 and reminded me of my grandson, except he wasn't as tall. One an older gentleman and another worker. I thought the older gentleman would be doing most of the work. I was leery when it was the other two who took the lead. Turns out the young man is his son, has been trained in plumbing since he was a young boy, is 27 years old and has been doing this work for 8 years. IMO and that of Renee, our managing agent who popped in to see what was being done, they did a very good job. She isn't usually at our complex on Fridays, so I appreciated her coming to check things out.

The job, however, was bigger than expected. They also had to put the new copper piping in the storage closet. That means I had to empty out everything that isn't kept on our homemade brick and particle board shelving. They offered to do it, but it was quicker for me, since I already know where to put items that get removed from there. I knew they would have to take down the cabinets, but thank God, they only had to remove two of them. I had to make places for what was in those cabinets. I don't know where I would have put the dishes in the larger cabinet if that had to come down. The jury is out as to whether they can be saved.

I'm likely to get my kitchen remodeled a little sooner than expected. I don't want to dip into my nest egg, so was planning to put it off for a few months. So it looks like I stopped paying (a good part of) my granddaughter's college tuition just in time, even though she's continuing her Master's courses, some of which she took along with her undergrad courses. She and my son are now responsible for the Masters course payments.

Our cooperative has an interest free loan program that I'll take advantage of, especially if they don't chip in for the new cabinets (that remains to be seen) or my homeowners insurance won't pay. I can set my own terms of repayment and will negotiate when I get an estimate of the total cost. I do not have to pay for today's repairs.

Good morning peeps of SF...another beautiful day today.. 🌞 🌞 .altho' they say we will get a little rain this evening

I've been painting my garden gate, and now waiting for it to dry to go over it again with a second coat...

It's a holiday weekend here so it's very quiet today..not that it's noisy usually, but there's always traffic... and there hasn't been any going past for about an hour...

Hope everyone has a good weekend..... 🌺🌻
