Hi everyone. I've been retired from the Aerospace industry for 3 years now and started producing my own music videos. Here's an example of one I recently put on YouTube ---

I also have many other videos on my YouTube channel ---

Walter Franklin - New Music Undiscovered

I write, perform and record all of the music, as well as produce and edit the video. If you're interested in doing this, I'd be happy to pass along whatever tips I can.

Really good original sound, and genre!!! It looks like you have been at this awhile. I looked around your web page. Looks like you have made many songs with cool colors!
I too have had a home studio. I first used a four track to make the songs. Back then in 1987 I used a drum machine. :) I am from Cupertino Calif. I did the Hendrix, Santana, Steely Dan, top 40, and played around with fusion.

Here is the solo I did in my version of "Whippin' Post" the video is a social justice warrior telling it like it is. :)

I made it in 1999. Used a computer to play some midi, and record live.

Thanks Paco Dennis - great performance of a great song! I hope you do more. Let me know if you ever want to talk music & video recording, software, equipment, etc.

Welcome to the forum @Music Guy. We have a few musicians here and I am one (actually I consider myself more a composer-arranger). But I am a recording artist who has released two multi genre albums, so far. I am currently working on tracks for my next releases, likely as singles. We have a home studio, but most of my recordings were done on my Yamaha Clavinova, then transferred into the studio equipment (first album) then into my son's Logic program (second release). He engineered and mastered both of my projects.

I have also used digital music programs, mainly to edit and perhaps add a couple of tracks, which I did in my now defunct Logic program. I recorded two of the songs that wound up on my second release using Garage Band. I also have music on YouTube, including four live action videos, produced by a good friend (also a recording artist), who does a fabulous job with the concepts and producing the videos. I don't post them publicly in the forum because then I would no longer be anonymous, but some of my friends here on the forum have heard my music.

I'll be checking out more of your videos. Thank you for sharing. Besides you playing guitar, I saw hands on a keyboard. Was that you playing? How many instruments do you play? I hope you enjoy it here.

Thanks OneEyedDiva - I'd love to hear your music & see your videos - maybe you could give me a hint someday so I could find them. I play all the instruments on my videos - guitar, keyboards, bass, & drums (although these days I use the EZDrummer software for most of the drum tracks).

Welcome Music Guy, happy to have you join us!
We have a some pretty talented artists here, all unique and original and I have been amazed at each of them.
You should find many good conversations in that area of topic.
Thank you for sharing your video! Hope we get to view more.

Thanks IrishEyes - looking forward to conversing with others in the group. If anyone else out there is interested in getting into the music recording / video world, I'd be happy to pass along my experiences. It doesn't require a ton of expensive equipment these days, and everything you need (other than the musical instruments themselves) can fit on the top of a desk.

Hey music guy. I thoroughly enjoyed your music video. Way to go. It just goes to show that seniors can do just about anything. Very inspirational. Your video was very cool. I look forward to viewing more.
Welcoming to the forum. 💜

I like to write simple songs that have a personal meaning to me. nothing professional. For a couple, I used Revocalize AI with DAW... (Digital Audio Workstation). Are you familiar with this software?

My pal Gordon turned me onto it. I've been thinking of getting my own setup although the initial cost is kind of high, the program does a lot of things.
Record your singing (or instruments)
Apply Auto-Tune, pitch correction, reverb, compression, EQ, etc.
Edit audio (cut, move, layer tracks)
Add beats, loops, or virtual instruments
Mix multiple tracks together (vocals + drums + guitar, etc.)
Master the final song for release
