Bully Heroes from The Huffington Post

Thank you Ike, and I would tell others it is just bad press. Go into any urban shelter or even one in the sticks and you'll see a "pit mix". That's shelter speak for this is a bully but don't be afraid. My boy was maybe the most imposing in the shelter. I put my hand against the kennel fence. And he raised his paw to my hand. " No I don't belong here human, take me for a walk you'll see. He came home within the week.

I'm a pitbull owner, and my Bonnie is the sweetest, gentlest doggie. She LOVES the little girl next door and her friends -- she is very gentle with them and lets them climb all over her, and lets them dress her up in all kinds of outrageous outfits, much to their delight. The other day they wanted to paint her nails, but I drew the line there because I know she'd chew on the nails and I doubt the nail polish would be very good for her. But I'm sure she would have enjoyed the attention of the girls.

I've had her about 8 months now (she was about 7-1/2 years old when she came home) -- I found her at the Humane Society, who told me she had been "ill treated" and medically neglected. Her medical issues are all under control now, and the ill treatment hasn't affected her sweet personality.
