WOW, the price of flowers in baskets and pots!

My neighbor always buys 2 hanging baskets for her porch.
Last year my neighbor bought 2- 8 inch sized pots of hanging flowers locally for 12.99 a pot at a local nursery.
She went yesterday and came home fuming those same arrangements were 29.99. and the ones with multi flowers
were as high as 89.99 for the big ones.
Single pots were 5.99 each.

That is just nuts! These are not annuals she buys either.

I’ve noticed the increase as I look around for this year’s Memorial Day pots.

There was a piece on the news with a locally owned greenhouse operator saying that this years increases may be considered moderate compared to next year as the cost of fuel and fertilizer continue to increase.

Another man, on the street interview, was asked if increased costs and inflation had an impact on his family’s Mothers Day celebration, he just shrugged and said: probably but we always seem to make things work.

It’s true, we all rob Peter to pay Paul and Peter is getting really tired of it.

Sad to say I don't think a jump like that is going to help feed them.
Neighbor said people were looking around and leaving empty handed.
They usually have a good crowd buying there. Sad to hear, they been around for decades.

A plant shop here in the street left after corona. The grocery store next to it sells flowers and plants too, but way cheaper.

Hey, make your own bouquet...that's what I usually do for my balcony
or use artificial ones. And I am very choosy.

I used to collect used pots, clean and sterilize them. I even mixed my own potting soil. Boy, does that stink when you bake the soil to kill seeds and sterilize.
