I don't use the oven very often. When I do, it's for baked chicken or a pizza. Maybe meatloaf. As careful as I can be, the oven still gets pretty bad. I do like the self-clean feature, though. Much easier to just wipe out that ash. It locks and gets very hot, takes 4 hours to run the complete cycle. Anyway, now it's done.
Four hours? Holy cow! Do you just wipe the ash out when it cools? I don't know how old this oven is or if the feature still works. I worry it might break the oven. I wonder if it goes all the way to the hottest setting? Might make a better cool weather project.

I would guess this stove is over 20 years old, electric with the glass cook top. Four hours, yes. I wonder what the power usage is because it gets v-e-r-y hot. And mostly, just wipe the ash out. There were a few small areas where I did scrape a bit. It didn't do much for the window on the door, though. I used a blade for that. Took about 15 minutes. Still much easier than doing it by hand and I think (not sure) you are not supposed to use oven cleaner (yuck) or it would ruin the surface.

Cool weather project is why I did it yesterday before summer arrives. It was cloudy and gray and in the 50's mostly. Saw that as a Last Chance, lol.

Wouldn't the oven cleaner catch fire???

btw, the self-cleaning cycle can be cancelled at any time by pressing the off/cancel button. At least on the ones I have used.

The oven door locks when you start the cycle and will stay locked (even when you turn it off) until it cools down some.

why the racks?
I don't know. They are stainless steel. I guess it's because the oven walls/floor has some special coating on it and the racks do not? All instructions say to remove the racks so I do. I hate cleaning those racks cuz the only way I know of that works is to place towels in the bottom of the bathtub, dump in a jug of ammonia and run an inch of two of hot water, let them soak for a hour or so, then scrub with SOS pads. The fumes are AWFUL, I mask up for that.

I didn't do the racks yesterday.

see this oven has no instructions with it. ty for the information.

Snow???? It will be close to 90 here with severe weather today.
Heh heh. Why I moved here from South Texas. Just can't take that heat anymore. Step outside when it's over 100F and that first breath feels like it's frying your lungs. Winters here are a bit of a challenge, what with shoveling but then I don't have to go out in it if I don't want to.

Isn't Kansas kind of a Tornado Alley? Does your apt have a basement?

It used to be Tornado Alley but the alley has shifted to the south more now. And yes I have a basement.

Shih Tzu goes to groomer this morning at 0915, will drop him off then go to clinic for my 0940 appointment (renew Rx's). Groomer usually takes about two hours so will have to hang out somewhere till he's finished; it's a 30 minute drive one-way from home so won't go back and forth, which would mean there and back twice, two hours of driving. Nope! I do hope this current cold snap is the last one for this year. He doesn't tolerate cold at all but his hair is starting to mat in spite of brushing efforts, which he hates. So time to clip down. I do have a little jacket for him if necessary.

Maybe go to Tractor Supply? They have really cool stuff that is fun to look at and I need new garden gloves. Hopefully they will have size small which are difficult to find. Safeway for sure since my favorite yogurt brand is only available there. Fresh lemons since it is iced tea season.

Time to get dressed.

I absolutely need to find a different groomer. Nuff said about that.

Found the garden gloves so bought two pair. Back ups.

Clinic visit went fine, except...the MA took BP and it was 106/60-something. I have systolic hypertension, under good control with three anti-hypertensive meds. I told her that couldn't be right; it is always in the 130's/high 60's/low 70's. When the NP came in, she mentioned it. I told her I didn't think that reading was correct so she took it again. Yep, 130's/low 70's. She also said if that first reading had been correct, we would have adjusted my BP meds dosages. I suspect the MA was new. If your provider doesn't listen, SPEAK UP!

36F this morning and it looks like more precipitation is on the way.

I may do some laundry today. I may also tape off the trim that needs painting in the creek room to get ready to paint. Finally. If I just get started, it'll be okay. It's the getting started that is difficult these days. Meh!

Poor old shih tzu was clipped down for summer and of course the high temp these last few days was in the low 50F's. He has been wearing his jacket most of the time, even indoors.

I have spent the last few days working outside, pulling more weeds. Woke up this morning feeling it so will probably take the day off. Maybe head into the nearby town to pick up a few things.

Quiet times.

Tell the doggie it's climate change. Not your fault and give him a pet for me.
You shouldn't push yourself so hard. I worry you'll get hurt. Be safe.

It's my weekend off so I'm not doing much. I was gonna do housework but last night at work left me hurtin pretty bad so...not doin it.

For me it was --- difficult. I threw away a packet of Benson & Hedges after opening my finals results envelope. It was difficult at first, well for a couple of weeks, and then I held on to the thought that it would be a waste if I started off again. All the usual attempts to "just have one" but I didn't. It's been as near as dammit to 60 years since my last. I learned that, at least in my case, a person never stops being a smoker, but can and does go into remission.
