How are you today?

I was just thinking how glad I'd be when Georgia's primaries are over tomorrow so that the commercials will stop. Silly me. They won't stop; they'll just be different ones between the primary winners from now until November. >le sigh<
Georgiagranny, that makes two of us and probably many more. I know my remote should be glad when it's over or at least slows down so I'll quit using the "previous channel" button so much. Every time one of those commercials start, I hit the previous channel and go to the weather channel for a few minutes until it's over. It's so nice!!!!

@Georgiagranny I don't iron either. I was never good at it. I end up looking worse than I do with the wrinkles. 🤣

Something is going on with the gutters on the neighbors house across the street. Couple dudes working on those atm.

We got severe thunderstorms last night and it rained all night which we needed. More forecast for today. I'm waiting on groceries to arrive and planning to order from Chili's for the very first time today. I have to shower, do some dishes and get some laundry goin. I will likely just piddle around on the laptop today rather than risk damage to the xbox or tv.

Work has been busy. Life is just pluggin along.

Ironed? Ironed? I have an ironing board and an iron, but mostly they just gather dust. When I moved back here and all my stuff was moved in, we had a garage sale. Got rid of lots of stuff, and DD figured as long as I already had an ironing board and iron, she'd sell hers. On the rare occasions when something needs to be ironed, guess who gets to do it? LOL DD's no dummy.
Our iron hasn't been used in at least a year.

My situation is similar to your DD's. Even before DH & I were married, he'd see me grab a dress or blouse or dress from the closet to asses it. If they needed a quick pressing, he'd say, "Hand it to me, I'll touch that up for you." Did I demur? I did not. (My mama didn't raise any stupid children.)

One of DH's earliest apparel industry employers sent him to an intensive one-week apparel construction and equipment training center at Union Special (the sewing machine company) in Chicago. One of the classes? "The Complete Art of Pressing." (Hoffman press plus iron touch-ups.)

Cute little story: When DD was little, strangers would often compliment her on her clothing (as they tend to do, mostly because there aren't many good ice-breakers for adults to use with small children). She'd respond brightly, "Thank you. My daddy made it!!!" You should have seen the looks on their faces because (a) Daddy??? and (b) the outfits did not look handmade.

In response to their questioning looks, I'd smile, nod, say it was true, and (oopsie) fail to mention that while he had indeed made that dress, he'd also made about 3000 others just like it...

Getting downpours right now, knocked the humidity out of here at least.
Myer is keeping my feet warm, she's such a good foot rest.
Supposed to rain until 8pm - April showers are a month or so late this year.
Got my Nikon up and ready, needed a crash course on how to use it again, it's been awhile.
Figures it would rain today so no woodpecker sightings today.🦆🦆🦆🦆🦆

Good morning. I have flowers to plant and flowers to fertilize. And other stuff to do in the garden. Are you surprised? It's gonna be hot again so I need to get a wiggle on before it's too warm to be outside.

I'd like to get my hands on whoever it was who wrote that stupid commercial about prioritizing sleep:mad:.

What is it about my feet? I thought it was neuropathy, but it doesn't bother me a bit when I'm walking around or otherwise doing things. When I go to bed, it's a whole nuther story, and they start burning and get all pins and needles-y. Guess I'll ask the doc when I have my next appointment in July. Whatever it is, I'm not gonna take yet another pill for it.

ETA: Oh Em Gee! I just saw a meme that said "I didn't mean to buy so many plants. We just made eye contact." That's me except that occasionally there's no eye contact, they just jump into the cart when I'm looking at something else:D.

@MarciKS & @hawkdon Humidity has long been a factor in breathing difficulties i've experience, high winds as well. Part of why i chose New Mexico when i retired. But weather patterns seem to be changing tho i'm hoping the couple of high humidity summers we've had recently were an anomaly and it will return to the more tolerable for me levels.
I am on a CPAP at night. But i have learned that if my breathing feels off after doing heavy chores on a humid day that 5-15 minutes on the machine restores my blood oxygen levels. (I monitor with a pulse oximeter i got thru my insurance's online pharmacy.) Can actually watch the level rise.

The last 2-3 years i've seemed to have more nasal mucous but i'll take it over the thoroughly and chronically congested sinuses i had when living on the east coast in my teens and 20s. Most of the time it is clear or white not infectious looking like the stuff from sinus issues. Tho if i just poked at fire or cleaned the woodstive it may run greyish. Have taken to wearing mask when cleaning stove.

Still recovering from back problem, check up with Orthopedic surgeon went so well, he said if i want to i can cancel the June visit we scheduled if i'm feeling i don't need it. There's chronic aches but at my age had some of those already. Sometimes the pain spikes to acute level but not nearly as bad as what i had when went into hospital. My right knee has been problematic for decades.

Also i'm finding ways to minimize some of it by flexing my right leg when i've been sitting for longer stretches. But then the right knee has been problematic for years. First injured it at 18 1/2 yrs old. And moving that right leg caused the most acute pain before they put the screw in my back on 3/6/26. Now it feels impaired most of the time from hip to knee. But it's more discomfort than pain. Working in adapting witb meditation as well as exercise (not vigorous ..PT type movements that keep the muscles from tightening up and protesting ANY movement.

Oh, and have to fast tonight for early morning med appointment. They'll do blood draw to monitor for the two prescriptions i have Levothyroxine and a statin, which i'm thinking if going off of but need a weaning schedule, cause not to supposed to stop abruptly. I've made dietary changes and am still active. Even splitting woid again tho daughter gets the heavy ones to my splitting spot and brings the loads of split wood in the house.

@Georgiagranny, I feel you about having the importance of sleep pounded into our brains. As if those of us whose bodies don't permit that full, magical seven hours are doing something wrong. Perhaps a moral failure? An adolescent-type, defiant disregard for what's most healthful? Our nightly slumber is laced with awakenings because we've found more diverting activities to pursue at 1am, 3am and 4am? (Like tossing and turning...)

Until about my 50s I usually slept like the dead. No more. Every night is a crap shoot, and I'm seven-out more often than I care to report.

This morning my eyes popped open shortly before 5am and 30 minutes later I gave up the ghost of hope for more slumber and quietly got out of bed to start my day. DH has no such issues.

Still? What the heck lady? You ok?? Good to see you though!
Hey , I am doing better - Thank you! 🙏 ☺️.

Sorry to hear you have been dealing with stuff too - hope you are feeling better as well!

Right now I am a bit on the grumpy side of life, wishing I was already retired! Alas, I must go to work and put on one of those smiles and just keep pushing.

Hope everyone has a lovely day! 🌷

Do you have a retirement date?
Not really ... I work with my husband (we own a small construction company) and he does not want to retire - so it's hard for me to leave him to do all the work. I am truly blessed, it's not stressful - for the most part, and it certainly makes life more affordable - but...

I have applied for my social security; I'll be 63 in July - and I hope DH will eventually warm to the idea of full retirement! :)

For whatever reason, I just feel done with it all.
