How are you today?

Nobody showed up for cinnamon rolls. Too bad. They're gone.

Went to the "party store" and got two plants from Clarence, a blanket flower and a pot of diamond frost. DD had given me a Blue Daze flower that I had in a little pot on the teeny tiny patio so I found an unused and bigger red pot. Put the Blue Daze and the diamond frost in it. Now I have a patriotic red, white and blue pot of flowers.

Then we went to Publix to get a couple of things for today's meatball soup. It's on the stove cooking right now.

What goes into meatball soup (besides meatballs)?

@StarSong I just posted it. It calls for tortellini to be added at the end, but DD had some gnocchi that she wanted to use up so it's gonna be that instead. You can be flexible with the amount of ingredients. Sometimes if we have some leftover spaghetti sauce, I'll throw that in, and sometimes I'll chop up some vegetable slaw from a package and add that, too.

It's not always the same, but it's always good! And like most soups, the longer it simmers, the better it tastes. If there's any left (not bloody likely!), it's really good the next day.

Apologies, to all in here as I've not checked back to see if everyone is ok since I was last here. I hope you all are feeling ok.

I've only come here to whinge about the heat here in the UK.
I ache from sitting around doing as little as possible. The bungalow is so hot, the heat outside bloody awful. 3rd day of blinds and curtains drawn, no windows open (keep the heat out), and today there's no breeze at all.
My neighbour has a/c in her lounge but of course she has to be away doesn't she? She'll feel my wrath and I'll probably batter her when she comes back next week. Bah. I'm a winter person and clear blue skies is my thing. Even deep thick snow. At least you can wrap up warm, but heat you can't really do anything about. Another Bah.

I've been reminiscing back to 1976 - equally hot. I was a copper in a thick black skirt, black tights and a hat, sweltering whilst watching everyone enjoying their time in the nearby water park. At least we were allowed to take our uniform jacket and tie off and open the neck of our shirts.
Just checked how hot the summer of 1976 was -
The peak that year was 35.9C - started in June and lasted for two months. There was a lack of rainfall and a significant drought, with the government enforcing water rationing.

At least I can wear less clothes now I'm retired ;)

@Quacker Try opening a window or two and putting fans in them facing out. It should at least help to blow hot air out of the room. If the humidity is low, hang a very damp towel in front of a fan. The fan speed will make the air cooler and add humidity. If there's a breeze at all, hang a damp towel in front of an open window. Tricks I learned when we lived in the desert many years ago.

Thanks for that GG! I don't have any fans - I've only ever had one and that was when I went through the menopause 31yrs ago! Our UK weather isn't usually as bad as this or I'd invest in one or two.

Where I live now, in a bungalow, it can be a problem inside with high humidity levels especially in autumn/winter so I've a dehumidifier for that. The levels can go up to 80/90 in the cold/damp season, now it's 50/60.

But thanks anyway - :)

@Quackers, Talk about a difference in climate! Counting every kind of fans, ceiling fans included, we have at least a dozen in this house. Plus central AC.

I'm sorry you're suffering through this high heat and high humidity spell. Excessive heat is horribly uncomfortable.
Wow! I'm gob smacked! 😮

Funnily, I've never had a problem in any property I've lived in previously ( 2 or 3 storeys and a dormer bungalow) - but living in this one level bungalow is the pits for humidity levels. I think the location's the problem it being lower down in a 'dip' and surrounded by trees plus there's a stream over the road.
It seems to be such a 'needy' property re humidity levels. Never been a problem in any other property or location I've lived in.

@Quackers, my house is also one level. Desert/Mediterranean climate means low humidity. From daytime highs, overnight temps tend to drop 20°F in the winter and 30° cooler in the summer. So a day of 95° (35°C) cools down to 65° (18.33°C).

As it happens, I have an open to the sky atrium inside my house and during warm weather I keep a very powerful fan in there. When daytime temps are high, I place that fan about 6" from the screen and set it at full blast. It usually cools the house down at least 15° overnight. The timer turns it on at 11pm and off at 7am.

Oooh, now I'm jealous StarSong, that sounds lovely!

It's interesting learning about our different climes/where we live and what we have to do to live comfortably. It's not something I've really thought about nor dealt with before (humidity levels etc).

I have a doctor's appointment in about 30 minutes. It's a video call. I really don't like those video calls. I think they make me look even worse than I do...😉

Anyhow I do like the doctor or NP. She's very nice 🙂

I have so much cleaning to do. I have to get someone (maybe a neighbor) to take my trash out. I used to have a clean apartment but not anymore.

Good morning.

DD, DGD and I have already done the usual Wednesday morning Aldi visit. DD spent a king's ransom in the AOS, almost all of it on Christmas gifts. I mean, heck, Christmas is only seven months away. She shops for Christmas all year long, and it sure helps with the expense in December.

I laid in a week's supply of gelato, of course.

Maybe we won't have downpours today like we've had, but it's still too wet to play in the garden. Drat.

@Ruthanne, hope your doc visit went well.

Morning. I seem to have a lot of congestion in my chest today. I sound like a cappucino machine. :ROFLMAO:

IDK if my ride is going to be able to work today or not. His back was in pretty bad shape last night. I'm off tomorrow but I have my 6 mo appt with my primary. :cautious:
Sposed to rain thru Friday off and on.

Thanks, it was ok. I shop Aldi's too. I get delivery. I'm working on filling up my 🛒 cart on their website.

I think they charge for the paper bags, and it's not much . I buy Aldi's bags, usually 2. They hold a lot and they are better than paper ones. They charge 95 cents for 1. They outlawed plastic bags here. I think it's kinda stupid
What bothers me is the idea of them putting one or two things in a bag and charging me for more than I need.
