Here’s a part of the political calendar that nobody in the Republican Party seems to have noticed: This spring, just as the GOP nomination battle enters its final phase, frontrunner Donald Trump could be forced to take time out for some unwanted personal business: He’s due to take the witness stand in a federal courtroom in San Diego, where he is being accused of running a financial fraud.

You'd think the media would be drawn to this like moths to a flame. Wonder why they are burying it?

He called McCain a loser and the RW's still thought he was a great guy. That says something...insanely bullet-proof perhaps?

Wouldn't it be a hoot if Trump had to spend weeks in civil court, and Clinton was being grilled in court over her violations...both during a peak period in the elections race? THAT would show the public what a pair of misfits these current front runners Really are.

And they both went to jail? :) I guess you don't go to jail over civil suits though.

That case has been pending forever, hasn't it? You know he's got more than a few attorneys, and they've had years to prepare...including a script for him to memorize (one would hope, for his sake).

I think the media should show this side of Trump. I'm so tired of seeing him on CNN I could cry. lol

I'm sick of seeing him and I'm not even in the US! They show him on BBC World, Russia Today and Aljazeera. When we get home and start watching regular BBC and CNN Int'l we'll see him even more. Of course, outside the US he is portrayed as a hateful man and a bad joke.

I agree that he is a bad joke!!

I was reading an article in the NY Times this morning, talking about Trump's lack of influence in NY these days. A few things jumped out at me from the article:

"The major banks, for their part, say they are leery of lending to him after having lost millions of dollars on past deals. Lawyers and contractors he has hired in the past say he is slow to pay his bills, and often shortchanges them. Even the few Wall Street executives who say privately that he is a friend are loath to speak publicly about him."

"
“I’m less focused on New York now,” he said. “I started going international and national, which is what we are doing now, and then I did the presidential thing, so that to me is cooler than all of it.”

"One contractor, who spoke on the condition of anonymity for fear of being sued by Mr. Trump, said Mr. Trump underpaid on one large job, at one of his towers, by almost $100,000. The contractor opted not to sue, estimating the litigation would cost more than the losses. The two parties have not done business since."

"Mr. Trump revels in his reputation, boasting about not paying some of his outstanding legal and construction bills."

Not surprised. He makes enemies everywhere it seems. He is not liked at all in Scotland due to some of his dealings here.

I keep waiting for him to say, okay folks, just kidding, I don't want to be prez, just a practical joke. Haha and you all fell for it!

If you have time, take a look at an article I posted earlier today (Reagan) and part of it talks about candidates using a presidential run, even if they're unlikely to win, just to boost their personal "brand". Trump, the ultimate showman, knows there's tremendous value in this venture, even if he loses in the end.

I'll take a look. I suspect it's just an ego trip for him as well as boosting his brand.

Agreed....Trump is the ultimate Flim Flam Man.

From all I read, this suit was about false advertising and some students were complaining because Trump wasn't directly involved and they never got to meet him personally.

According to Trump, 98% of the students were happy with the university according to student surveys, and the lawsuit may have been filed because Trump didn't support the New York Attorney General with financial contributions during his political campaign.

The case is old I understand, around 5 years? Regardless, if Trump loses, he'll pay with no problem and his mess can be cleaned up with a hand-held whisk broom and dustpan. Whereas the other front-runner, Clinton, would need a street-sweeper to clean up her messes, which can't really be done because they likely involve much more serious things other than money. One of the reasons so many voters, including myself, would support Bernie Sanders if voting for a democrat.

CNN just did piece on a condo project in Florida. To sum it up Trump licensed his name to many projects but wasn't actually in charge or funding it.

A condo buyer was disappointed to find out Trump had no liability in a failed condo venture because it was his name only on the project. As SB pointed out same for Liberty University. One would think a person with a lot to lose-literally would go out of their way to make sure the name and associated money trained isn't tarnished. But staying out of legal trouble or having no liability works too.

I could be wrong but I think some of what is holding back Bernie with voters might very well be his age (74 I believe).......again I might be wrong but up till now wasn't Reagan the oldest elected president at age 69 ?

Here is another view of the original article..

I have to ask....who in their right mind would give money to a 'Trump University'...lol
