Is The Forum a Social Outlet For You?

I enjoy forums also for that reason.
I also am a member of a private forum and I'm the oldest, lol best of both worlds ;)

What you do on your vacation and how you spend your time is your business to do so as you please.
I personally enjoy your adventure and you sharing it.it introduced me to a new country that I would never have thought of 'vacation spot'

Rock on Annie.

Thanks Vicky. I was always under the impression that how I spend vacations was my business as well, and how others spend theirs is also their own business.

Funny how I managed to get hundreds of photos of us kayaking, on beaches, at tons of temples and pagodas and shrines, at beach side restaurants, snorkeling, bicycling, swimming, shopping....yet spent all day every day on the forum. Hmm.... Thailand is a very popular spot for tourists from many countries. Just this island gets 1 million+ every year. It's very crowded in places which doesn't appeal to us, so we chose a very quiet area to stay. We'll be back again next winter as well.

There's a place for everybody here. Backpackers, those who want to party all night, retirees, families, rich people, poor people and those in between. We got to know lots of our neighbours this year. Across from us is a German who lives here all year, next door is an English guy who lives here all year, a Canadian couple who spend 4 months here every winter, an Austrian couple and a French couple who also come every winter. The short timers we never get to know unless we strike up a conversation at the pool. We are quite happy with this place - amazing staff, beautiful gardens and pool and beach.

It is for me, primarily because with my Profound Hearing Loss I am unable to discuss topics face to face with individuals or in a group and the phone is definitely out, so for an Extrovert like me, Senior Forum is a good Social Outlet.

Lon---I was a pilot for 34 years and wore my headset on my left ear. After 34 years of listening to traffic controllers, I developed Tinnitus in my left ear and if I am around low talkers, I have to turn my good ear toward them, which in turn sometimes prompts the question, "Do you have a hearing problem?"

My hearing isn't nearly as good as it used to be. If there is a lot of background noise I can't hear. But if it's totally quiet I can hear a pin drop.

I belong to a couple of women's "hat" clubs. Snore. I joined here, hopefully, to fill up some of my time when I really need some new interests. I should clean house and do all kinds of yucky work, but I'd a whole lot rather sit at my computer and get to know some new folks.

I often use the internet as a delaying tactic when I need to do housework or some chore I don't want to do. :D

I'm not exactly a social butterfly here or in real life for that matter, but the forum does offer some diversionand a bit of friendly contact with people in my age group. I don't really consider it a social outlet as I haven't noticed any connections forming on a deeper personal level, but its fun for what it is and very entertaining sometimes. And its funny how things can go awry so fast if you disagree with someone, with people getting upset and leaving suddenly. Like many other things online, it can be addictive if one is bored and has nothing much else going on.
