Did you own a Barbie doll? What kind was she?

I owned the brunette classic Barbie with her stiff long legs and striped swimsuit. I had a Barbie house and got a Midge doll later to be Barbie's friend. If I'd had a Barbie car I could've given them adventures like Thelma and Louise. :sentimental:

I didn't have a Ken doll because I didn't think he was cute enough for my girls. Attitude - right.

So, Did you have a Barbie?? What kind?

I wasn't interested in Barbie's world, but my younger sister had several. I had only two dolls, Raggedy Ann and Betsy-Wetsy.

Never owned a Barbie. Too expensive. My mother was a saver. I did have a lot of those little cardboard dolls, with the cut out paper clothes and tabs you folded over.:)

Ok now this is playing in my head...
.. I was lucky to have several Barbies, which at the time I know my parents could not afford. I remember when I got the Barbie Camper Van. Which later would be given away during my rebellious years. I did manage to keep some and still have them today. I also have a couple of rares a Francine and P.J barbie.

My daughter even played with my Barbie Dolls. I did have a ken Doll came with a record of him singing cause he was a rocker lol.. Always though Ken was a wuss and her main love interest was my brothers GI Joe cause he had a beard. hmm that is where I must of got my love of men with beards..

So very many Barbies. A special gift one time was when my aunt gave me a collection of handmade clothes. There was this gorgeous wedding gown with veil and a crinoline underskirt. I wish I still had all that just for sentimental reasons. The only Barbie I didn't ever have was Malibu...bratty me, I probably had every other one.

I still have my Madame Alexander dolls though. I also wanted GI Joe, but my Mom was adamant about "boy toys" and "girl toys".

I was a little old for the Barbies, but my younger sisters owned a zillion of them. I did like troll dolls, though.

My daughter wasn't all that interested in dolls and didn't care for Barbies at all. My granddaughter liked them but immediately cut all the hair off of any new ones she got, for some reason. She had a whole box of bald Barbies.

So cool. Thanks for sharing. The pink dress with the orange flowers reminds of a bedspread I had in the '60's. It was a colorful time and Barbie was a fun part of it.

I never had Malibu Barbie either. :( But I did have a couple of blonde Barbies. One had a bubble haircut and the other had long hair and looked a lot like Barbara Eden LOL.

I hear that the divorced Barbie comes with all of Ken's stuff!!

 Ken!

I never had a Barbie, my mother thought they were too sexual for such a young girl to play with. A friend of mine had one, and I wasn't very impressed, but I was never into any dolls really.

I was 7 when I got one. My cousin's mother thought it too sexual for her daughter to have one.

I think my sister and I both got one for xmas - I was 7 and she was 9. I believe it came with the striped bathing suit and I don't know if we got other outfits with it, but my grandmother made really nice outfits for our Barbies including fur jackets.

I never had one, not being a very dolly girl, I never asked for one. My little cousin had one which she proceeded to tear to bits.

I had a blonde Barbie and also had Pepper and Skipper (I think). I loved playing with dolls when I was a kid. I also had baby dolls, a doll house and lots of little clothes.
