Found this site and thought I would join up to see how things are around here. So, saying hello to you from a very, very bright Scotland today.

Hi ossian, and welcome to the forum.
Your from Scotland eh!
Nice one.
I live in Wales, so similar environment, except here is warmer than Scotland of course!
Yep, from Scotland! We do share a similar environment. Never been to Wales but it looks lovely.

Welcome Ossian! Very sunny here in Argyll today. Actually getting out on my bicycle today.
Good for you, Ameriscot. I cycle too but was out for a walk this morning and visited some garden centres.

Argyll is simply beautiful and I can see parts of it clearly not far from my home. All those hills will keep you fit if you tackle them on your bike.

So we're neighbours? :) As you well know it is very, very hilly here. Last year my husband and I bought pedal-assisted electric bikes so we can ride anywhere and get up all hills. Our rides can now be much longer (about 50 miles) and more pleasure than work. Although of course we do get exercise as well.

I love all the new bike trails being built by Sustrans! There is one being built near us now which means we can ride bikes into town without worrying about all the cars going 60mph past us!

That is a great idea. I have seen the electric bikes around but dont know much about them. Fifty miles is a good distance and must allow you a fair amount of variety in trips.

Yep, Sustrans are great. The cycle track that I use most does get a bit busy during summer with walkers and dogs and they are not too keen on bikes approaching from behind. One guy actually gave me real abuse for being there! I stayed calm.......... ;)

The Glasgow trail is a bit too busy for me, I prefer the ones in Argyll. Our longest trip in one day was 66 miles. My battery will go between 70-120 miles depending on whether I have it on full power.

Ours were not cheap but we love riding them so much that it was well worth it. Our are German made.

Oh, it is not the Glasgow trail. It is the Inverclyde one. Runs from Paisley to Gourock, I think. It is a pleasant track, but can be busy around Kilmalcom and Bridge of Weir. Lots of mums and doggies. :)

Do you simply plug the battery directly into the mains to charge it then?

That's the one - trail 75. Gourock through Paisley to Glasgow and goes past the Bridge of Weir. PM'd you a link to some bike ride photos including that trail.

The battery is big - plugs into the mains. The bike itself if heavy so if the battery were to run it the cycling would be tough.

Hi everyone. I look forward to reading all you opinions and maybe putting in my two cents worth!
