Buddy Holly was another seminal force but not the choice of Elvis. Roy Orbison was good but not great. No prizes for either of you...
 
You must be on the young side, as I remember that music and liked a lot of it...

Roy Orbison WAS the best and would have blown Elvis right out of the water had he been good looking, but he was plain and we live in a superficial world. Elvis was popular for his looks. Elvis never wrote his music. Roy was a singer songwriter and his voice was amazing.
 
Elvis sang every kind of music there was, Roy couldn't even come close. Go to Graceland and worship the King like he deserves...

You kidding, the "Heartbreak Hotel" would be a drive too far and that was the one song I did like and remember. Most like as I lost my virginity while it was playing:D
