Just in case anyone is not aware yet what this is all about...

This thread is for people to either offer, or be nominated by another member to go into The HOT Seat, so we can possibly find out more about our friends here.
Once in that 'hot seat' so to speak, the idea is for other members to ask that person questions about their life and interests in general.
Perhaps where they live, do they have pets, do they like a drink, do they go on holidays much, and if so where? I don't really know, as that is for you to decide. The person will be in the 'Hot Seat' for around 2 days (around 48 hours) answering questions as and when they can.
That's the general thinking anyway.
Please feel free to offer either yourself, or nominate another forum member, who may or may not want to do this of course.
I think that you will all agree that our VickyNightowl, Ameriscot, Ina, Sifuphil, Ralphy, Boozercruiser, Gail.S, Lydiag, Arachne and Bob 235 all did a rather lovely job in answering their particular questions. I for one feel that I know a lot about them than I did before, which is very nice.
So now sitting in The Hot Seat is Fureverywhere.

Fire away!

Hi Fureverywhere, and thank you for stepping in at short notice to go into The Hot Seat.

Only a few minutes ago, I was sitting in the garden with the birds tweeting while having my morning tea and toast.
The Sun is shining lovely.
I was reading my latest copy of Computer Active.
All this to me are just a few of the simple pleasures I have in life.

Could you please tell us what your simple pleasures are?

Thank you in anticipation.

Kenny

Hi Fureverywhere.

What would be a fantasy vacation for you, the trip of a lifetime?

Could you please tell us what your simple pleasures are?
I just enjoyed a simple pleasure a few moments ago. While I don't have enough disposable income to shop Whole Foods very often they do have a lovely dessert bar. One large spoon of bread pudding, caramel sauce, fresh fruit and leche cream, with a hot cup of coffee...perfect bliss. Also a piping hot bath with lavender scented bubbles.

What would be a fantasy vacation for you, the trip of a lifetime?
England, Scotland and Wales...a chance to look up family heritage. Italy if my mother in law was still alive.

Favorite book and what would you recommend?
Oh dear I could list my hundred favorite books but can't narrow it to one. Could I answer with some favorite authors? Dave Barry, Mitch Albom, Terry McMillan, Susan Wilson, David Sedaris, Maya Angelou, Bill Bryson. But oddly enough two of my favorite books that come to mind are graphic novel/comic..."Hyperbole and a Half"-She deals with depression, frustration and insane dogs, I can relate. "Rover, Red, Charlie"-It's the human apocalypse and a group of dog friends must find their way in the world. Imaginative drawings and well done dialogue but very graphic violence.

What do you like to do in your spare time (if you have any)?
Hide from my kids;) Seriously...Target is quieter than my house. A guilty pleasure is going there and binge reading the scandal sheets. Taking Sophie for a few hours long walk, oh and did I mention I like to read???:playful:

What words of wisdom would you pass on to your childhood self?
Okay you have two choices with getting bullied. Either find somebody to teach you how to fight back, one bloody nose and they'll leave you alone. Or find you a friend who is big and will defend you.

Don't feel like a misfit hiding in the library so much. You're exercising your brain, that is important. They make fun of you because they don't understand...and so what? They're the dumb ones.

I had fuzzy red hair my mom couldn't tame. Thick glasses, shy as could be, sucked at math and sports. Before nerds were cool.

I have a fun question for you, Fur. After reading this question you suddenly become permanently invisible. How are you going to live your life?

Is your current husband the father of your children, or the first husband? If so, to what do you attribute the longevity of your union?

Oops! Somebody (me) was not paying attention.
Hmmm, I always choose "rock" :)

Okay, different question.
Which of your childhood years (up to 18) was the best?

If you were to suddenly inherit $1,000,000 tax free, how would it change your life? Assuming you'd give some to charity, which organizations would benefit from your generosity?

Fur, we are never too old to learn. What valuable lesson in life did you learn recently?
Living by the wisdom that you can't eat a whole elephant. You can only eat an elephant a piece at a time. It keeps things in perspective when there's far too much on your plate.

Fur, does NJ "fit" you, and do you "fit" NJ?
Oy, that I can do a mean Joe Pesci impression? Yes of course...actually I didn't "fit" until I met my husband. As a kid we never "went down the shore". My parents preferred Cape Cod or visiting family in Pennsylvania. Most of the neighbors and kids in school were Italian American, mass every Sunday and Seaside every summer.
I met hubby, the oldest in a nutty Sicilian family and I began to understand a new culture...somewhere between The Soprano's and "Gemini" but brand new for me. So yes I now fit in Joisey, like a clown, yeah funny like a clown<<<male screaming>>>

I have a fun question for you, Fur. After reading this question you suddenly become permanently invisible. How are you going to live your life?
Casper the Friendly Ghost, kids used to tease me with that...always very pale...but invisible? I guess it would make it fun to be a fly on the wall in some situations. But I'd want to be able to wrap myself in scarves and shades to be seen too. You don't want to be invisible all the time.

Is your current husband the father of your children, or the first husband? If so, to what do you attribute the longevity of your union?
Second marriage but Dad of all but the eldest...and his Dad too almost forever. I think we're still together because we learned how to seamlessly switch roles. At the beginning he was Sonny Corleone and I was Kay. Then as we got older he mellowed into the Don and I became Bea Arthur. It works for us.

If you could get a do over what would it be?
Simple it would have been one human kid and done, life would have been a lot simpler.

Fur, if you weren't afraid to do it, what is one thing you do immediately?
Take up skateboarding again. When I was in my thirties, the oldest boy taught me the basics and it was fun. Now I'd be afraid of breaking something.

Which of your childhood years (up to 18) was the best?
Preschool maybe about 4. It was all downhill from there. Except visiting my grandfather, I never wanted to go home. His house was magical.

If you were to suddenly inherit $1,000,000 tax free, how would it change your life? Assuming you'd give some to charity, which organizations would benefit from your generosity?
Great question, I get goose bumps just thinking about it. Freedom from the worry of living in a cardboard box stealing cat food yaaaaay. The best medical care for hubby. A trust so my daughter and dogs will always be taken care of. A house not insulated by pizza boxes. All the books on my Barnes and Noble wish list.

Then I would have time to turn to charitable causes. A generous donation to Hello Bully in Pittsburgh, some reputable literacy organizations, and I would establish a bully rescue in Newark built on the model of "Pit bulls and Parolees". Zoning wouldn't be a biggie, there are hundreds of empty warehouse spaces that would welcome renovation. It would also help the community by giving non-violent ex-offenders employment and a chance at turning around. The dogs would be up for adoption nationwide, which would give them a better chance at forever homes. Sigh, what a lovely dream.

What is the worst thing you have done that you now regret, and what is the best thing that you would like to do again?
Getting married the first time, I wasn't but a kid and he deserved better. I wish we could redo the second wedding all over again. You could bring a bunch of people back to life and be 25 again, just for one day, but knowing what you know now.

Okay, confession time, Fur, what's the dumbest thing you did while drunk?
Agree to get married the first time...oh and driving as a teen. I was young and cute so the police always let me go with a warning, but no I had no business near a car.

Do you think you were a shy kid from your upbringing, your environment, travel & uprooting, or a combination?
