Husband and I went to an island today for a bike ride as it was sunny and warm. Amazingly it reached 78F! Some parts of the island were very windy so we took a detour to the protected areas.

What a bike ride! Beautiful scenery and photos! :sunglass:

Thanks SB! It was lovely. If it hadn't been so windy it would have been perfect. Would have needed shorts!

Gorgeous scenery, lots of exercise, and fine weather, what more could you ask for? Thanks for sharing your photos with us :)

Thanks Gail. Weather good again today (it's a miracle!) so riding our bikes to the botanic gardens. A short trip about 13 miles roundtrip. I'll get some photos of the rhododendrons, etc.

I should be at the gym today but we were both surprisingly very tired after yesterday's ride and it has to be because we were battling 20mph winds on the roads that were getting the full force of it, some going uphill.

This ride was on the island where some Syrian refugee families were sent back in December. Saw a Muslim couple walking their baby in a pram along the seafront and wondered if they were Syrian and how they were adjusting to life there. I'm sure they were thrilled with the improvement in the weather as they were sent there in dark, rainy, windy and cold December.

So peaceful looking at that it is hard to believe that war rages on where the refugees come from, they probably can live withi your weather...

Great pics, Ameriscot.. I gave up on cycling yesterday after 9 miles because it was so windy. So I was thinking of you on the island. Did you cross to the west side of Bute and back round to Rothesay? I intended on doing that last year but the ferry sailings did not really suit me as I wanted to be home for mid afternoon.

We took the ferry over from Colintraive and it was really, really windy on the way to Rothesay. We went up the road that goes past Mount Stuart and it was much calmer there. Went on to St. Blane's then turned around and came back. We usually go all over the island, but wanted to avoid the wind. It was so knackering! I had to keep switching from tshirt and light sweatjacket, to sweatjacket and fleece jacket!

The weather yesterday was very rare - at least a temp that high is. We probably don't get enough sunshine for them and winters would have been horrible! No snow, but very cold, wet and rainy.

If we had passed by the couple a bit closer and they were chatting to each other I would have said 'lovely day or something like that'. I hope they've been made to feel welcome, I expect that they have been.

Didn't make it to the botanic gardens as we forgot that we are waiting for the BT person to sort out the internet. It's very windy here today as well, but warm and sunny. I'm washing windows. What fun.
