More spent on moms than dads on their special days!

Yup, once again dads got less. Why is that?

Mothering sunday (or Mother's day) in the UK has little to do with the US version. It was traditionally the last Sunday in Lent when domestic servants were given the Sunday of to visit their families. At least Mother's day is an established tradition. Father's day, seems to be an American invention. I expect it was started with good intentions, but I think both days have become little more than commercial rip-offs.

Having a beautiful lady put up with me for 50 years, bear our 3 children and be instrumental raising them, being a foster mom to over 100 children, still working at age 68 because she believes she helps people everyday and wants to continue that, and being grandmother to the very best grandchildren in the world she is living proof of why Mom's deserve every thing they get on Mother's Day... and more!!!!

Maybe it's because moms seem to be easier to buy for. Some flowers, or a potted plant, a little ornament, something pretty whereas with men, a bunch of flowers seems weird, ditto for the ornament and anything they might like costs far more than most can afford for an 'appreciation' gift. Personally, I've never liked Mother's Day. I think it's a fabrication by card companies to guilt kids into 'remembering' mom one day of the year and it's been turned into a second Christmas by some, complete with lists of ideas for gifts. My husband though, enjoys getting the phone calls from the girls:rolleyes:

A nice meal out for either occasion should do the trick...

That is usually what the wife and I get on Mothers/Fathers day. This past Thursday, we met one of the daughters/son-in-laws at the casino, and had a great prime rib dinner..their treat. Then, yesterday, we had a nice barbecue dinner at the other daughters lake house. That tradition works out great for everyone.
