As I have recently purchased hearing devices, due to recent illness, which left me deaf in my right ear. I was concerned about losing these expensive devices which cost between 2ooo. and 3ooo USD, you can get them cheaper but I require 2 for what is called "cross hearing". Whilst at me audiologist this AM(yes , I was there, right day and time), she showed what can best be described as "hearing device booties." These booties in the form of a tiny a "sock", cover each hearing device without altering reception and transmission with a string attaching each device , to a clip which attaches to the back of your shirt collar. Tis pretty simple, but remarkable. Then again, maybe I am easily impressed. Hearing device booties, go figure. lol

One of my golf buddies was vacationing in Florida. Took off his windshirt on the golf course. Had his hearing aids turned off due to wind noise. Went to turn them back on after the round and one was gone. Thinks he knocked it off taking off the windshirt. Went back to the clubhouse to inquire if he could borrow a golf cart to go look for it. Between when he had lost it and discovered it gone, someone had turned it in at the clubhouse.

I never wear mine when playing golf, mowing the yard, or other activities where I might lose one... or if I want to tune out the wife!!! (Not really!)

I require to operate a commercial vehicle and I, as you, plan only to use then as required. I have been wearing them a little to become comfortable with them, but never as you say, when doing something where I may lose them.

I don't imagine water will do them any good either. When it's raining, I don't wear mine. If I'm really going to need them later, I take them in my carry case. Wind doesn't seem to bother mine too much.

I will take them off in the rain, thank you.

Never seen the socks you are referring to. I'll have to check them out. My AIDS are five years old and still working fairly well. They are very expensive, as you mentioned, senile1.

My ENT Specialist gave me a price on hearing devices, because I completely deaf in my right ear, I need what is referred to as "cross hearing", a microphone in my right ear and a receiver/transmitter in my left. The cheapest they offered for cross hearing, essentially 2 hearing devices, was 2800.00USD with a 2 year warranty and 1 time replacement if I lost, though I would have to pay a deduction.. I shopped around and found a pretty popular company(I of course researched it)Truhearing, offering the same 2 devices for 2200.00 USD with a 3 year warranty, a 1 time replacement if lost, 225.00 USD deductible. My purchase was through an independent dealer , representing a host of different companies. She is also an audiologist and gives free hearing tests to her clients. She carries a host of accessories for her products.

After being tested I received hearing aids free from the VA several months ago and I only wore them off and on in the house the first week or so......I don't like the feeling of something in my ears which I suppose is why I've always worn ear muffs when in a noisy environments instead of earplugs.

My hearing is worst in my right ear. It makes it nice when I go to bed, as I lay usually on my left side and noise is very minimal in that position. I can adjust the volume, which is nice, because they are Bluetooth capable.
It never bothered me to wear them except they tend to make my inner ear itch like crazy. I take them out and take care of the itch and then put them back in.
