Having a Glass of Wine with a Fly!

I was sitting here having a glass of wine when this fly was sitting on a prescription bottle of mine looking at me drinking. He or she then flew to my glass and sat on the edge drinking it and then jumped in and sat on an ice cube and was drinking it. I scooped him out and he landed on the carpet. I think he was smashed (drunk) and so I picked him up and then he flew around. I never kill flies, their lives are short enough. LOL

I don't kill them either Ruthanne. That is unless one is buzzing around my head at night while I am trying to sleep or lands on my dinner plate. That's just plain rude of him.

But they haven't been taught manners. LOL

Well, he or she came back and sat on my nose for awhile then had some more wine on my glass and then flew off. He or she will be back. See you are never alone when you consider all the species in the world. lol

Make sure it brings its own bottle next time. I know these flies. They drink your wine, you think that's cute. Then before you know it, they are sitting down to a meal with you, moving into the spare bedroom, bringing in their relatives, and start to take over the neighbourhood.

Trump has a policy for them!!!!

But I'm a Clinton woman and will give my little cup holder to the little wayward fly, I will also give it any little scraps it desires in my garbage. lol

Any fly that comes into my house gets splatted!

Agreed.......inside or outside in my case.

Like when I'm sitting on the patio having a beverage I put the coaster "On Top" of my glass in order to keep flies off the rim and out of my drink.......flies are nasty, I don't want one that just got off some dog poop somewhere walking around the rim of my glass.

*me*......Hey honey this wine tastes like crap.

*her*......Are there any flies on the rim of the glass ?

They also like dead and rotten things. Eww, I get grossed out if they land on my food. Who knows where their last stop was?

One day I killed 1,204 flies in New Zealand. I put them in a box and cremated the dirty nasty critters.

Any fly that messes with my glass of wine will receive instant death.

Screens on my door and windows prevent flies from entering. If one does happen to sneak in, it is quickly directed to the door.

Ruthanne, you crack me up. I love your imaginative thinking and your slightly off center "this is how I do it. so tough!" attitude.

I don't kill spiders, but I do kill flies. Unlike the mini-ants that run all over my kitchen counter, flies can be disease carriers. I don't let myself get paranoid about it, but I do kill them if I can do it without killing myself.

Did you know - in Australia flies have been greatly reduced by the introduction of a beetle that loves to eat cow pats. This reduces the nesting places for the flies. The reduction in fly numbers is really noticeable.

Oh good Ruthanne. I hope he doesn't tell his friends, they may want to get a buzz too! Years back, I lived at this house that had an apple tree. The apples that fell on the ground were often hollowed out by bees. I think they actually fermented and the bees inside would get drunk!
